San Antonio Spurs!!!

Yeah...They're speaking a lot of DW!
Just because he's great!! He came in a draft where everybody spoke about Carmelo and Lebron...
Last year, Carmelo lost at 1st round, Lebron team's didn't clinched a playoffs birth...D Wade was ever in conference finals...
This year, the same and perhaps more, so I have to say that I give him a lot of credit!!
He's great and to me, he's a better player than pick 1 and 2 from the same draft! (to me!)

About those games, I think that Detroit will reach finals, they have seven games series experience....not the heat!
Shaq is a little bit injured and plays in a strange way (what I thought when I saw Game 6!! no??). Whatever DW condition, Pistons will win to me...

Finals will be a whole different thing, some of you think that heat or pistons will burn spurs..I don't think so!
Don't forget that during regular season, Spurs beat both teams with complete rosters and where short to win on the road without Duncan...So, I think that it will be a long series, but, IMHO, Spurs in 6.

I don't know what you'll all think, but I think that Spurs don't get credit they deserves..When they beat the n°1 of the regular season in an easy way, medias speaks of the knicks and lakers which missed playoffs!!
So, I'm a bit sick about that!!

To Bad Brains: Don't hate D Wade, hate medias!! ;)

With no disrecpect! (of any kind!!) let me laugh...
How can you compare a team where individuals primes and where the one on one is the key, with stars with extraordinary ego versus a team that is here for a while and who beat everything with collective faith!!

I think spurs are really better than Lakers, and you'll be surprised how much Pistons will face a strong team...

Hehe I really don't know, I just got into basketball last year. I kind of jumped on the bandwagon.

Whoever wins it will be fun to watch.

I wouldn't trade starting lineups with the spurs for what the Pistons have. Having said that I think it will be a an excellent series. To say the Pistons haven't faced a team as good as the Spurs is true, but the Spurs haven't played a team that plays D like Detroit. And remember that "over the hill" Laker's team that the Pistons beat last year beat the Spurs to get their.

I think the Spurs will have some match up problems up front, Ben Wallace will probably guard Duncan, and as good as Tim is that will be a vacation for Ben compared to guarding Shack. Who will guard Rashad Wallace?, if Duncan does that pulls him away from the basket and hurts his rebounding and defense, I don't think Nazr Mohammed can guard him or McDyess. If Bowen guards Hamilton, who guards Prince who has a 7' wing span? In the back court, Hamilton did a good job on Wade, and I think he certainly make Ginobli work. If Billups can stay with Iverson, he can certainly guard Parker. Also watching Parker, I never know which ones gonna show up, the one who drains every thing or the one who makes bad decisions and gets caught on dribble penetration. Having said that neither team really has a true weak-spot and both play good defense and know the importance of the little things. So here's my Keys for the series:
PISTONS: Which Rasheed shows up? the one who scored 20 in game seven or the one who took two shoots in game five?

Does the Bench contribute, especially carlos Arroyo, their starters have played a lot of minutes.

Can the Pistons guards stay out of foul trouble against S.A.s back-court and still stop there penetration?

SPURS: Will they get quality contributions from Nazr Mohammed and Resterovich? The Pistons have three very athletic Big men, Duncan can't beat them alone or get in foul trouble

Will Parker play consistently and keep Billups from making big shots?

Will the Spurs get a contribution form there bench, in particular Horry and Barry?

My pick, Pistons in Six, having said that I wouldn't be surprised if these teams played eight games and went four and four.

Good post, Burk - but I must disagree about the comment regarding Shaq being more difficult to guard than Duncan. At this point, I'm pretty sure that's not true. Shaq's injury made it difficult for him to make an 8-foot jump hook. Duncan will not have the same problem. Aside from a healthy Shaq, TD may be the most difficult defensive assignment in the league. I look for him to put up 30 in a couple of games.

I see a lot of similar characteristics in the two teams, but the difference for me is that San Antonio has a bit of an offensive edge. I think the Spurs will be delighted to play Detroit's brand of half-court, defensive basketball - but in the series with the Suns, they demonstrated the ability to run and get some strong transition play. I'm not sure if the Pistons are versatile enough to deal with all the ways the Spurs can hurt them. That's no knock on Detroit either - I'm simply very impressed with San Antonio.

My pick is Spurs in 6. And for that reason, the Pistons may be the safe bet... :p

I wouldn't argue with your final point, I think this is going to be a too "close to call" series. I'm sorry if my post implied that Duncan would be easier to guard then Shaq, But Ben Wallace is 6'8" about 240, Shaq is 7' about 320 and plays a totally physical game. Ben's biggest advantages are his quickness, leaping ability and positioning. None of those things helped him guarding Shaq. With Tim Duncan at least he'll be able to use his assets, I doubt he'll be in foul trouble EVERY game in this series. Duncan is by far a better player because he does it on both ends of the floor, The Pistons actually preferred that Shaq was on the floor when they were on offense, because he couldn't cover pick and roles and lacks the quickness to be an effective shot blocker anymore.

no, the pistons beat a laker team without karl malone who had become their anchor. malone is the guy that allowed la to get past san antonio and minnesota. had he been able to stay healthy, that series would have been very different.

and after watching the spurs play portland for years, im not worried about the duncan matchup on rasheed.
