San Antonio Spurs!!!

I think the Spurs will have some match up problems up front, Ben Wallace will probably guard Duncan, and as good as Tim is that will be a vacation for Ben compared to guarding Shack. Who will guard Rashad Wallace?, if Duncan does that pulls him away from the basket and hurts his rebounding and defense, I don't think Nazr Mohammed can guard him or McDyess. If Bowen guards Hamilton, who guards Prince who has a 7' wing span? In the back court, Hamilton did a good job on Wade, and I think he certainly make Ginobli work. If Billups can stay with Iverson, he can certainly guard Parker.
Duncan will likely guard 'Sheed, since Duncan't fast enough to keep up with him. Mohammed will probably guard Ben, because Ben's less of an offensive threat. Ginobili will guard Prince, just by process of elimination. Popovich won't want Ginobili to get worn out covering Hamilton, so he'll let Bowen be responsible for chasing Rip through all of those screens, since Bowen's less of a contributor offensively.

That's what I'm talking about!! What a great game for the Spurs. Manu played like a man posessed!
Ginobili is unstoppable. The Pistons have no answer for him. They're a bit like Phoenix, in that they play seven guys. The Spurs are much deeper, and that is key in a knockdown, dragout defensive series like this one.
The NBA's ridiculous scheduling definitely benefits the Pistons right now, though, with Game 2 not until Sunday.

I'm pretty surprised that the game went that way - I figured the Spurs would win, but aside from opening up a massive lead that they leaned on for 3 quarters, the Pistons weren't exactly impressive. Ginobli absolutely took the game over in the 4th, and Duncan was dominant throughout. Tony Parker did look pretty terrible though...so that's a plus for Pistons fans.

I expect the Pistons to respond, but they cannot be happy about their start.

The horrible refs didn't help. Not saying the only really why the Pistons lost was the idiot refs who don't know how to make a proper call, but they sure didn't help.

Yeah, that sort of stuff will happen to a team, it kind of starts to snowball. That said, it was hardly as bad as I've seen - though I did see a few calls go against Detroit that really should have been offensive fouls against the Spurs. Either way, we should see better play from the Pistons in the next game once they get a little rest.

The Pistons are nothing like Phoenix, most of whose players couldn't guard a good high school prospect. One quick warning, there were an awful lot of Heat fans popping champaign when they went up 3-2, so wait till it's over. I can't figure either team winning before six games.

No, I think calls were good, not because I'm a spurs fan, but because they called things that happened, not imaginary things!
They were great in this, I think!

Steve Jave is a putz, and that blocking foul called on Ben Wallace when he was guarding Ginobli was pathetic, not even borderline! And it was a swing from a 7 to 10 point lead at a critical point! The Spurs won and it wasn't the refs fault. But I Have NEVER seen Jave give the Pistons a good whistle since he's been in the league, he hated the 89-90 pistons. And not much has changed, he also blew a very quick T on a man who doesn't have a rep for technical's, no excuse in the 4rth quarter of a finals game.

Don't forget that Javie refs Pistons during 2004 Finals 2 or 3 games (don't remember exactly!!) and on all games he refs, they won....
I don't think there's something with Javie and Pistons!
Just my .02 cents!

As Argentinian (who also loves NBA since childhood) you can`t really imagine how proud I feel about Ginobili.
His popularity is increasing tremendously, as well as his game skills.
Four or five years ago it was unthinkable to have a player playing in the NBA. Now there`s one who`s in top form, about getting his 2nd title in 3 years and with a good chance of being named MVP !! .That`s amazing.

I think they can finish this series in the 5th game.

Scola is great player too. He improved a lot over the last 2 seasons. He can become a good backup player fo Timmy D.

Ouch!!

That one hurt, as Pistons' two!!
TP was great, but the rest of the team was not here!!

Vince

Yep, that`s true. He`s the only player that did something.

Anyway, I believe that next game will be crucial. If Spurs win they`ll take a 3-1 lead, and they`ll have 3 chances to win the series, 2 of them at home.

I still believe they`ll be the champions.

If the Pistons win game 4, the series will take on a whole diffrenent meaning, the pistons will have the momentum and one game left at home, only needing to win the next 2 out of 3, the spurs better bring there A game or this season might be over with.
