Is anyone having trouble intonating their SS Stingray? I have two, and in both cases the saddle for the E string is pulled back as far as it goes, and notes up the neck are still a bit sharp.
What gauge strings are you using?

My luthier taught me a little trick for "tricky" intonation problems by intonating at the 5th fret instead of the 12th. I've done it on six string guitars as well as basses with great success. If a lot of your playing is in that area aside from improvement you won't notice the difference. Thanks, that’s a great tip. I use a chromatic tuner, so I check pitches up and down the neck, but it makes a lot of sense to give added weight to notes above the 9th fret or so.My luthier taught me a little trick for "tricky" intonation problems by intonating at the 5th fret instead of the 12th. Road Runner RR5TEG-ESP Highway Premium Electric Guitar Gig Bag EspressoAs I missed the deal I can no longer see what bag it was, can you post what it is?
Well, I’ve got mine in a guitar bag at the moment; a regular bag, like for a 34” bass, will work, but is too long.New to the SSMM, am I reading correctly that a guitar, not a bass gigbag works fore these?
Merry Xmas!
Except for my headless Ibanez of course, my SBMM is the shortest of my 30" scale basses. The top tuning machine is at the same height as the top of the headstock of my one sixer with 3x3 opposing tuning machines. So, it's about 2 inches taller. Depending on how a guitar gig bag is padded, it may or may not fit. Mine came with a hard case, so it's a moot point for me.New to the SSMM, am I reading correctly that a guitar, not a bass gigbag works fore these?

Short scale bass case. Fender makes a soft case, for hard Roadrunner or Musicians gear.New to the SSMM, am I reading correctly that a guitar, not a bass gigbag works fore these?

The Fender Short scale bass gig bag is an excellent choice. While not as protective as a hard case I’d say it’s as close as you can get and it costs much less. I got mine for $40 on the bay a couple years back.New to the SSMM, am I reading correctly that a guitar, not a bass gigbag works fore these?

Yes, there were some large pop-ups in the sections of TB between posts, but these seem to have let up a bit. Annoyingly, they would sometimes push down a post while I was reading it, causing me to have to scroll down.Sid note: any one else getting weird large pop-up ads on this site? They don’t show up except on TB; been going on for several days.
you need to check the interior measurements of the bag. Some guitar bags are too short. Others fit perfectly. The short scale Stingray is just under 41 inches long so you need interior measurement than allow that. Some bags come with an additional pad that velcros in. On those, invariably it is the measurement without the additional pad that works for your SS Stingray.New to the SSMM, am I reading correctly that a guitar, not a bass gigbag works fore these?

Some that fit = Gator Pro, Levy's, most (all?) Mono. The Protec Contigo is one of my favorite guitar bags. Unfortunately, it is too short for the SS Stingray.
I have a Levy's also that houses my backup SBMM. My EBMM lives in a Gator Pro and my defretted SBMM lives in a Roadrunner Highway Premium. The Roadrunner is a lesson in not believing specs. It is advertised as being too short for the SS Stingray but does in fact work.I use a Levy's.

I really like the nordstrand mm4.2 I put in mine and think it nails the vintage tone and also gives one of the best single coil sounds I’ve ever heard. I posted a wiring diagram of it a few pages back.is there a fav quad coil pup to replace the stock one? I've been eyeing the Nordstrand MM 4.4. and Delano MC4 FE/M2, with the goal of getting something with a more-vintage-y tone, but not too much top-end clank and deeper lows, more like an overwound vintage pup.
I'm using an inexpensive Gator brand guitar gig bag and it fits perfectlyNew to the SSMM, am I reading correctly that a guitar, not a bass gigbag works fore these?
