SBMM Stingray Short scale

I don't know if EBMM ever offers their wiring harnesses for sale. Like I mentioned in my earlier thread, you can buy the US L2000 harness in the G&L online store. That would make for a nice upgrade over the Indonesian harness found on the Tributes.

As far as the tuning keys are concerned, it looks like the ones available in the EBMM online store would fit but I don't know if they would be a direct fit. They would certainly be an improvement over what came on the Sterling bass. The other alternative is the aftermarket tuning key set that people installed on their Sterling earlier in this thread. I think someone used Hipshots but had to fill one of the drilled out holes for each key. I'd much prefer to use something that covered up any alterations that were need to be made but that's just me. I'll have to ask around about the stock EBMM keys as an upgrade.

yeah my only complaint is the tuners, they work but aren't the best

The same can be said about the tuners on my G&L L2000 Tribute. The only thing is, it's a pain to upgrade to the US versions. They're only about $72 a set on the G&L site but I'd still have to take them to a luthier to have them installed. I'm not really comfortable having to bore out larger holes in the headstock of my bass.

It's still a crappy day here in NE. I had hoped to take a few shots of the bass out in the sun but that's not happening today. So, here are a few shots of the bass in my G&G tweed Tele case (it doesn't fit). I'm really shocked at how nice the maple neck it. There's plenty of really pretty grain in the neck, both front and back. The frets are even and finished off nicely at the edges. It's really a pleasure to play. I fell fortunate to have had this bass as my first short scale. I now have a new itch, actually two. First, for more short scales and secondly, for a Jazz given my new found comfort with a 1.5" neck!

Beauty! Well worth the wait, and a heck of a deal for what you paid.
Sounds like you've got a lot of enjoyment ahead of you!
Thanks for the pics!

I think I’m going to put the white US compensated nut from my Starry Night into my Olympic White SBMM. It’s gonna take some cutting as it’s thicker than the stock nut but I feel like it worth it.

so if anyone With a daphne blue short scale wants a rosewood fretboard neck let me know before I start cutting into it cause I’m down to trade!
Well, I've often said that if I can get the darkwood on the blue body, I'm interested. I do not yet have the blue belle, but I am interested. You may just put my over the edge on buying one, after my months of drooling!

Upon closer reading, it looks like these are the tuners for the EBMM Short Scale bass.

Lightweight Clover Bass Tuning Key for B, E, A or D Strings

Lightweight Clover Bass Tuning Key for G String

My bet is they'll require a bit of modification to fit the Sterling Short Scale. How much, is the question.

Having the lightweight music man tuners myself they have a much Smaller diameter on the shaft? So it’d probably need a custom ferrule or some wood working to get it seated right in the much larger SBMM hole.

that being said the OTHER music man tuners they offer on the website would probably fit with the stock ferrules. They won’t line up with the holes but since they look like the Hipshot HB1’s they probably cover the old ones at least.

Let me know if you pull the trigger! It’s a great instrument and had I known for sure I’d end up with the Starry Night EBMM I probably would have went Daphne Blue for the maple neck.

I’m low key hoping they do a Stealth model with Ebony fretboard next year. I’d jump on that SBMM or EBMM.

Check out the disclaimer on the EBMM tuner page:

This part is not intended for Sterling by Music Man instruments. If you need a replacement part for a Sterling by Music Man instrument, please contact them at [email protected].

I have a previous deal with @Protagonist, so he'll get first dibs on trading a maple neck for a dark one.

Are you able to phone them?, seems really odd you've heard nothing at all, you are very patient !

I’ve attempted the number I’ve found for them and get no response sadly. Gonna probably call Ernie Ball tomorrow to get a new control plate since I have no idea how much longer this guy is gonna take and without the part I can’t even make a tracing to send somewhere else to have one fabricated.

so for the SBMM probably gonna have the dude that does the carbon fiber work do a control panel and pickguard for me. For my EBMM control plate I guess I’ll try WD next and see if they can cut one.
