It's been a few weeks since I got my Daphne Blue bass and I finally got around to doing a proper set up and installing a new set of Thomastik Infeld Jazz Rounds. This was my first time using the TI JR's. I've had the Flats on my L1000 for awhile now and I've used the TI Power Bass strings on my L2000 on and off for the last year or so. All I can say is I've found my new favorite round wounds. On the Sterling, they are nothing short of amazing. The clarity, dimensionality and weirdly enough, the remarkable sustain that notes now have on this instrument is nothing short of remarkable. These strings are really in a class by themselves. They make this
inexpensive bass sound like one costing several times more.
I am now a short scale convert. I love this damn thing. And, I've found another favorite string set.
Who knows, I had planned on picking up an American L2000 this year but had a hard time justifying it what with COVID-19 but if things shape up next year, maybe it will be a short scale Music Man instead. We'll have to see what colors MM offers next year. Something with a nice roasted maple neck might be hard to avoid. And you can bet if I do pick one up, it'll be strung with the TI Jazz Rounds!
