SBMM Stingray Short scale

Gave mine a try at home practice volume to check, with both the Ray and a Mustang PJ - the only pickup selection with any noise at all is the Jazz pup only on the Mustang. All three positions on the Stingray are dead quiet, at the very least quieter than a solo'd Jazz pickup.

Ah, no I have not put the Ratio tuners on anything at all yet. I have used the Res-o-Lite tuners on my Yamaha, and they went in with no modifications. You can check out that thread here:Repair of Shipping Damage to Yamaha Motion B "Jade"

Mine is dead quiet most of the time. Sometimes I get a tiny bit of buzz from the middle position of the pickup selector (single coil mode?) but I think it’s usually from my fuzz and/or compressor pedal magnifying some little things and I have low quality cables. So far, I haven’t noticed any buzz when I plug into an amp directly.

Just bought a 2nd hand SBMM Stingray short scale in daphne blue a few days ago. I already have another tree EBMM Stingrays and Sterlings and two other SBMMs in my house and first felt like playing a childrens bass. And it's so light ! The passive electronics are great, absolutely zero noise and should also be made available for large scale models. A dream to play. And I know the rules, of course; no picture, no bass:

Can somebody recommend a good source for Stingray short scale custom pickguards ? As I am located in Germany and I need to have it shipped overseas anyway I wouldn't mind for sources in Europe or Asia.

Unfortunately I don't have a good scale, but it's by far the lightest of all my Stingrays. Compared to my classic Stingray I estimate it's at least 1,5kg (3.5lbs) less, may be even lesser.

Wow you got a light one! That’s what my US EBMM short scale weighs! I’d guess my SBMM is around 8-8.5 lbs.

Mine is 6lb 15 3/8oz.

These imperial units ... 7lbs; that's about 3,18kg right ? That sounds right to me. I guessed about 3kg, which I consider as a feather weight bass.

I thought my short scale in the daphne blue was a feather weight also at 7.5 lbs when I first got it, especially compared to my Squier P bass at near 9 lbs. Funny thing is my new full scale EBMM StingRay Special is even lighter than my Sterling short scale. .

Mine's very low 8lb going off a dodgy luggage scale, something like 3.6kg iirc. It balances really well, I can't imagine it being 1lb+ lighter without losing that.. but I could certainly cope with it by throwing on some Ultralites.

I think that's the color for sure for white with rosewood!

I got mine from them too. Guess I should have used my Dremel instead of a file. My fitting took over an hour.

My WD red Tortoise shell was about $70 shipped but solid colors are less.

The WD pickguards are made for the EBMM not the SBMM short scale. Everything lines up but the neck pocket. The EBMM neck heal is narrower than the SBMM one.
