SBMM Stingray Short scale

OK. Here's the inverse. There's a good chance that RodRy's will be favored by most, but I really like mine with the maple fretboard.

Any change in neck dive or weight/feel after the swap?

The only thing keeping me from buying a second one and doing the swap myself is knowing that they should be releasing new colors come January I’d expect.

I can't speak for @Protagonist, but the balance and feel are unaffected on mine. I think it is a bit neck-heavy, but not much, and it may just be me. I think my plan to replace tuners will solve the issue.
:D

Edit: Before buying another one, be patient and see if you can find someone else here who'd like to swap necks. Then we will have 4 swap-necked basses here!

Ahhh Well. I was expecting a white SBMM shorty Stingray to be delivered today ( it's been on the truck out for delivery since this morning) but it's almost 8:30 and still nothing. How late do these FedEx guys work? Maybe tomorrow......or it's lost. Bugger!!

Now it says it's been delivered....and it hasn't. I sense bad things a happening.

Oh no that’s my nightmare!! I hope it turns up!

yea I’m gonna hold out to see what new colors get announced. I wonder if the roasted maple necks will end up on the SBMM’s shorties next year since they ended up on v2 of the EBMM shorties and many of the other sterlings now have roasted maple necks. Bet if they do you’ll see them bumped to $599 which to me is still a great deal. Most of us ended up getting ours below retail anyways. Fingers crossed.

Still dealing with guitar center on my SBMM Ray34 Stealth before I do the black hardware swap to the shorty.

I wonder if guitar center would even notice the hardware change to chrome if I didn’t swap neck plates so the serial stayed the same lol.

I'm very tempted by picking up a second Ray, and if SBMM released new colourways with a roasted maple neck, I don't think I'd be able to resist.

Black/black/maple, or the olive finish used on the Sub HH bass, would be very nice. Maybe another pastel colour to complement the daphne blue.

I'd say if you're returning it to GC, just keep it as is and get your next one. For me, swapping hardware and then sending it back (even against a company like GC) would eat at me, and taint my love of the instrument. Best to keep it together as you resolve the issue with the jack.

Of course, if it's just a funky jack, you may be able to get some money back from GC, then take it to a well-trained repair person, and have that person also do your hardware swap.

Hope it works out well for you!
:D

NBD for me. After waiting almost six months from the time of my preorder, my SBMM SS is finally here! To thise interested, it fits in a Mono M80 electric guitar gig bag, meaning I can now carry the Stingray SS and the Fender JMJ Mustang in a double electric guitar gig bag :)
