I’m pretty sure that they are probably the same wood, or at least very similar. The “mahogany” found on imports is not the same mahogany you’d find on a Martin D-18 or a Gibson Les Paul. I believe nyatoh (or Nato) is one of the many eastern woods that often get labeled as Philippine Mahogany. I’ll need to fact check this later though when I’m not at work LOL.Interesting.. I like the sound and weight of my Ray, not sure how much can be attributed to the mahogany body, but it'll be interesting to see if nyatoh makes a big difference there.
You can trace the PG and they’ll make a template based on that. Think I’ll do that before attempting the dremelI did. I guess it fits the EBMM (neck pocket is different). We’ll see how steady my dremel tool usage is.
Yeah mahogany can mean a lot of different woods. For the most part furniture makers and guitar companies too it seems treat all these tropical hardwoods as interchangeable. Especially if they are getting an opaque finish.I’m pretty sure that they are probably the same wood, or at least very similar. Yeah, we traded necks, and I think both basses look better now.You two are the ones that swapped necks right? I thought both basses looked better after the swap. Also think the white would look best with a black guard.
If it’s the white one, send me the Rosewood neck and then mail it back with my maple LOL.So, a month ago, Fed Ex ground lost my SBMM Stingray shorty. Time went by, I signed an insurance form stating I never got it and Pitbull Audio sent me a new bass. An hour ago, the original bass showed up on my front porch. Now I have 2 Stingray shorties. If I weren't who I was I would keep it and sell it, but I don't operate that way. Waiting for Pitbull to get back to me.

That’s why I did the black pickguard, the blue with white guard and black pickup didn’t sit well, so simple change and looks awesomeGot a SBMM shorty myself a few days ago and wow, I'm really enjoying it. I'm sad I had to cancel my initial 2019 order for the EBMM one, but this one is totally fine for 1/4 the price!
My only issue is the color - I hoped the blue would be a little darker like the JMJ, but I definitely wanted a maple neck. Might get it painted some cool color to tide me over until I can afford an EBMM one. The new pink, blue and even the metallic dove-grey "microprism" are really decent colors on those.
Definitely looks better with black guard - i'm waiting for the guy on reverb to put some more upThat’s why I did the black pickguard, the blue with white guard and black pickup didn’t sit well, so simple change and looks awesome
I’m still looking to trade my rosewood neck out for a maple actually! If it’s the white one, send me the Rosewood neck and then mail it back with my maple LOL.
Yeah, I'd hold off until NAMM to see what else comes up. Might there be an even more irresistible color coming soon?I’m still looking to trade my rosewood neck out for a maple actually!
probably gonna end up ordering one of the hot pink EBMM’s tho too. I don’t think I can pass it up. The only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger is I’m waiting EBMM and SBMM announcement for NAMM lol. I hope this dropped copper isn’t the only new color.
Not gonna lie, much as I super wanted the old blue and maple one, I was pretty much insta-sold on the hot pink..... *innocent whistle*I’m trying so hard to hold out for NAMM announcements but they’re down to 3 left of the hot pink vault offering so I think I’m gonna have suck it up and bite the buy one. If it was offered with black hardware I’d have already bought it.

Did you buy one??? I like the new blue with maple way better than the old one tbh.Not gonna lie, much as I super wanted the old blue and maple one, I was pretty much insta-sold on the hot pink..... *innocent whistle*![]()
Mmmmmayyyybeeee...... I think the Blue Magic has just a little more green in it than I would like but i would love to be able to decide in person. Yknow. In case I hate the pink. I would have loved the starry night if it had maple FB instead of rosewood; I think the metalflake colors yield the ultimate Flea bass look - like the old stingray and the Modulus FU got together.Did you buy one??? I like the new blue with maple way better than the old one tbh.
