I know the Omen Extreme-4 comes w/ Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long strings, but to those that changed them out - what do you like on the Omen? Flats? Rounds? Nickel? Just curious. Never realized they were super long...

I am a Schecter newbie (still waiting for it to be delivered!!). I figured I'd post the following to this thread in case it helps someone down the road.
I asked the Schecter folks (via their contact link on their website) the following question:
"Hello. I recently ordered an Omen Extreme-4 and I'm still waiting on delivery, and I've been looking for a manual for the bass, but I've not been able to find anything. Can you send me a PDf or a link to the manual? I'm most curious as to what each knob does, as there's nothing online that I can find."
Their response:
"Thanks for reaching out. We do not have manuals for these instruments, but I have attached a knob layout."
You will get your best bang for your buck with Schecter that is for sure.Hey all! I'm in the market for a new bass and I was looking at some Schecter basses. My price point is around $600 and I'm buying new. I really like the look of the Schecter Omen Extreme 4. I was just wondering how is the overall quality control on these basses? Also how is the overall stability of the neck? Any owners of this bass out there who can chime in? Thanks in advance!
Beautiful bass, also how is the neck? Can you feel the scarf joint by the headstock? I bought a used Omen extreme 5 about 10 years ago sight unseen from GC online. It was horrible, but it was a neglected bass by what I could tell.
I've been curious since you posted this - what are your initial thoughts on this bass? How does it compare to your Stiletto?

The biggest problem with getting a wider bridge is the strings going over the edge of the neck, but if you can make it work, more power to you. However, if you are in the market for a wider bridge, it doesn't seem like they are a drop in replacement unless you can get one that has adjustable saddles, as wider bridges have wider mounting holes. It also depends on the style of Hipshot bridge you're looking at, and since it's always a good idea to just assume things, I imagine you're looking at this style of Hipshot bridge. In that case, only the 656 spacing will fit as a drop in replacement (I measured the spacing on the screws on my Studio 5 and they are 33mm just like in the drawings for the 656). You can mount a wider bridge, you would just have to redo the mounting holes by drilling larger holes, gluing in dowels, then drilling new holes. It would be under the bridge so you wouldn't notice it after it's reassembled.First time posting in the Schecter owners group so I hope this is okay? I googled and did a talkbass search and couldn’t find much or am blind. I’ve got a studio 5 and want to replace the bridge with something in wider or adjustable spacing. Anyone know if the hipshot 5 string is a direct replacement or know of a good replacement bridge. I’m redoing it all to chrome so it doesn’t have to be gold.
That might not be possible because it might pull the strings too far from the neck. You can in hindsight adid any bridge and Hipshot would be a good choice, however it might not be a direct replacement. My suggestion would go to tech to see if it’s possible. The dimensions of all the hipshot hardware is on their site and consult with a repair /luthier that has a solid reputation.First time posting in the Schecter owners group so I hope this is okay?
