Off-topic, "Thor's Hammer" reminds of my bong, "Thor the Hammer".

On-topic, I don't know why Schecter gets so much hate when you pick up a good one. My (likely) soon to be ex-guitarist hates Schecter and thinks my bass sounds bland just because he hates anything that isn't a Fender/Squier strat. Although, I guess I'm kinda the same in that I can't stand anything Squier.

Early 80s P Bass. One piece rosewood body and one piece rosewood neck. Monster-tone pickup and electronics with black finished brass pickguard. Weighs in at a hefty 15 lbs. and sounds like Thor's hammer.

Bass is wearing a chrome Badass bridge in this pic but since then all original hardware has been changed to black Hipshot gear to match the pickguard. More pics to come if anyone is interested.

FIFTEEN pounds?!? I thought my Warwick Katana NT was heavy!

I play a Schecter Hellrasier Extreme 5 string. I compared it in leisurely, in-home tests to an MTD Kingston Heir 5 and an Ibanez BTB 775 and the Schecter had superior tone, versatility and playability.

Yeah, he prefers Ibanez over Schecter too. IMO Ibanez sounds cheap, the tone is total crap. Of course, I've only used cheaper Ibanez basses/guitars, so I don't know what their mid-high end quality is like.

I can do that (rare moment, there), if you're serious...and I've played thru Doom ll & lll a few times but don't remember that number in either version. What/where was it?

On a dialpad, 2349 translates to BFG9, after the Big ****ing Gun 9000 (I chose a Detroit area code for my Google Voice number so my last 4 digits would be BFG9, haha). I was joking, but actually if you can give me 2349 that would be pretty sweet

Yeah you did, yesterday morning...one page back (that's how I knew to ask about your AC rig, remember?). Number-wise, you can either have the next in sequence (#360) or your BFG reference #2349 (which will put you at the very bottom of the list...fwiw...), your choice.

Not really sure. No serial number on it. Both neck heel and neck pocket on the body are stamped SCHECTER. pickguard, pickups and electronics labeled SCHECTER. Other than that I'm not sure how to date it. Just know that lack of brass name plate on headstock and serial number must mean its early.

In reading the Wikipedia article about Schecter, it seems they only sold replacement parts (no finished guitars) until 1979. Maybe this one was made from individual parts they sold if it predates '79? That would explain the lack of serial numbers.

Thanks, I usually go for naturel or sunburst basses, but this one seemed to call to me . Plays and sounds great to me. Between the upgrades, color and price I couldn't pass it up. I'm a very happy Schecter owner.

I do know for sure that it was purchased as an assembled bass. I received it in a POS gig bag that had a purchase receipt from Daddy's Junky Music but have since lost track of the receipt.
