Schecter Owner's Club, pt 2

Hey, guys!

Not looking for a number, but I thought I'd share my Schecter Stiletto Elite-4 fretless conversion in See-Thru Cherry. It plays much better as a fretless, IMO. I enjoy this bass so much more than I already did. Just got it done a few days ago. :)

I think my advice would be taking it to someone who really knows what they're doing. You can certainly do it yourself, but I was a little hesitant. I ended up taking it to a tech in my local Sam Ash Music who has been around for a while and really knows his stuff. It was around $140 USD (including the cost of new Rotosound flatwound strings ~ $35 USD).

I went with an unlined board, as well. He could have put in well defined lines, but I decided against it. If you're really close in a well lit area, you can tell where the fretlines once were, but at a playing and viewing distance, you can't see them at all.

Good luck to anyone else who is considering taking the jump to a fretless. I would highly recommend converting your Schecter after seeing how mine turned out. :)

Number please?

I've got a Schecter C-5 that I've flogged the heck out of for the better part of 6 years, and the only thing that has EVER went wrong with it is the guts busted out of my B string tuning peg once. Called Schecter and they replaced it free of charge, even though I'd had it for 5 years at the time! Schecter FTW! :bassist:

If this is true then IT"S A HUGE DEAL !!!!

I called Schecter and asked if this was only in the custom shop basses and the guy seemed to think it all Basses.

Sigh.... the word from Schecter is graphite support rods in 8 string guitars and 6&8 string Basses.......:atoz:

Still haven't gotten my pics yet. But.. restringed my new Studio 5 with the DR Marcus Miller signature Fat Beams. Absolutely love them. I knew how they improved the sound of my MIM J-5er, was a little worried about the Studio. No worries now, they play great and sound excellent, especially through the church's house sound system and booming subs...
