All said, with a trade in of my own bass and some other things, I paid about $600. The list price (according to guitar center) is $799 for the fretless 5

I bought it new earlier this year, but it was built in 2008 according to Schecter support. It needed heaps of adjustment to the setup but the active eq is pretty poor so I've got an OBP-3 to put in there.
I'm a big fan of the 35" scale - it makes such a difference to the B string. I also like the narrow string spacing but the neck could be a little thinner.
I've strung it with Circle K .142s.

What was the outcome here, Mudd? I was hoping that the OBP-3 would make the pickup blend more gradual, but now that I see it doesn't include a blend pot, I doubt that the wiring alone would fix it.
I picked up an early Bart 2-band pre (pulled out of a Pedulla, iirc) in a trade a little while ago...that will be installed in the Stiletto sometime soon'ish, as in - after I get myself a copy of 64-bit Windows 7. My repair guy has a used Bart blend pot waiting for it also. Updates on this as they happen.
Skabasskid I have the same fretless 5. I got mine about a year ago for $300 with the hard case. It was used but did not have a scratch. I want to know how the new board turns out, cost and sound differences. What strings do you plan to use? I have GHS pressure wounds on mine.
I have two Schecters now. I found a DV-4 Limited Edition last year.
And just recently I pulled the trigger on a Stiletto Studio 5 after doing some research here.

Thanks. Some of that maybe PhotoShop. I did tweak the brightness and contrast a bit.
How do you find the tension on the B string on yours?
This is my first 5 string and I am a very inexperienced player. I was working the B Aeolian thing and the guitar I was playing was tuned down a half-step. So I tuned the bass down to match the guitar tracks I had recorded and the B string is rather floppy. And since this is my first 5 string I don't have reference point to compare.
I swap between B and Bb and I don't have that problem, but my B is .142
Do you know what gauge of strings you're using? If they are stock, they're probably DAddario EXL165SL with a .130 B. I'd think they
would be OK, but you may want to try a heavier gauge.
But when you say floppy, you're not talking about fret buzz are you? That would mean adjusting the action (you need to loosen the screw facing the pickups before raising/lowering the saddle).
When I first got the bass, I had the same problem (and, at some level, a B string will always be floppy. it's just damn low!) but some set-up adjustments, mainly in terms of the bridge and a higher guage set of strings really helped. Currently using D'Adarrio Chrome XL-Scale Flats
