The biggest problem with the major boosting is when running the bass direct instead of mic'ing it. I have to mic the cabinet, frankly which I prefer, knowing that the PA and sound person can't reproduce the sound I'm getting through the cabinet.

Ha! Well.... we are on different ends of the spectrum. That's what makes the world go round. It's amazing that Jorg's cabs can keep the 'old flatwound' and 'new roundwound' guys happy!

So, after 6-8 months of happily gigging my 410 for bigger venues, and being frustrated with my sound at smaller venues where the 410 is too big/too much, I ordered a 1210 this morning. It's just dang near the same size and weight of either the swr baby blue II, or avatar sb112 I've been using at smaller venues. Now I'll have all that Schroeder Mojo (tm) in a nice small package for my smaller venue jobs.

Very cool. I'm looking at doing the same this 'in reverse'... very happy with my 1210 for smaller gigs... thinking about the 410 for larger (although the weight is keeping me from it at the moment.... the UL's have me spoiled!).

You wont be disapointed, I am still amazed at the volume and clarity that this little cab puts out. I took my 1210 to a freind that owns a bass shop so he could try it out. He has been in the business 25+ years and has come accross just about every brand there is. He was very impressed with the big sound of my little cab, and he is not easily impressed. He thought the cabs ability to reproduce the low b was unusual for a cab of its size.

I was not unhappy with the avatar SB112 I was using...but I'm just plain spoiled by the Schroeder's uncanny ability to porject thur a live mix. Their magic is not in your practice room, it's on stage.

I'm giddy as a little schoolgirl waiting for my 1210 to arrive :cool:

What specifically makes you want the 410? Were you playing a larger gig and thought that the 1210 wasn't enough?

I'm considering a 1210, but I'd like to get an idea of just how large of a gig I can use it for.

I have read about 75% of this thread and still have mixed feelings about this cab. Some people say that it is louder then most 410's, some say they'll work for outdoor gigs, then others say they need more than the 1210 alone. Whenever I've used a good 410 I have never had any volume issues on stage. Some don't cut as well, or have a certain tone that I don't care for, but I have always been loud enought for the gigs I've done.

Can anyone give me example of when the 1210 wasn't enough? Did it fart out? Were you maxing out your amp? Did the tone get all muddy? How large was the venue/stage? What type of music? Did you have monitors? Etc.

I strictly have been using it for moderate sized gigs. I take my EpifaniUL410 to the big ones. However, in comparing the volume and bottom of the 410UL and 1210 in my rehearsal space... the 1210 is very loud and full... but no way does it sound to me like a 410 in terms of fullness, bottom, etc. I agree with Jorg that it sounds fuller and louder than 'most 410's', but sometimes it just gets down to the physics of moving air. An Eden410XLT or Epi410UL will blow the 1210 away if all you are looking for is volume (again, sound quality, etc. is a different issue).

I would put the 1210 in between a hi-end 210 and 410... and put it as similar in output and volume (although much different tone) to the Epifani310UL. To put this in context... many people use the Epi310UL as their primary, large gig cab. Given the style of music I work in (typically pop and funk), and the large venues with typically no PA support, I quickly run out of sound with my 310UL, whereas the 410UL has never 'folded' on me at all.

My former large venue cab is the much renowned Henry 8x8. With electric bass, I never had any qualms with it. Even tho it's only rated for 475 watts, I regularly threw 800 at it with no problems. I never felt like I didn't have enough cab til I started playing double bass. Somehow, DB thru the Henry just disappears on stage...poof! all gone!

Comparing the Schroeder 410 to the Henry 8x8 is like bringing a keychain sized swiss army knife to a gunfight.

The Schroeder slaughters it mercilessly.

I can't imagine a venue that would need a 310212, but I'd like the job. I am ready to buy equipment to fit my employment needs :D

I've been wondering about this too. I'm seriously considering the 410 because I'm familiar with them. But I HATE shlepping it to smaller gigs.

A 1010/1210 would've seemed like the ideal solution for your situation, but alas Jorg has discontinued the 1010. I'd LOVE to try out that combination. :hmm:

2 1210's would be pretty killer, but, as they only come in 4 ohms, you must ahve an amp capable of dealing with a 2 ohm load...
You could run 2 8 ohm 1212's...

Last night I was played my first gig with my new band Lecuona.

I was excited about this gig since I was going to be playing guitar while a friend played bass through my rig and I would have a chance to really hear it. Unfortunately there was a power surge in the begining of the first song that damaged my Eden Navigator and blew at least one of the speakers in the 3101212. Hopefully I can get Furman to cover the repair costs since the RP8 in my rig didnt protect my gear.

How about this for a follow up?

I call up Furman to ask for compensation. After all I feel they owe me since their product didnt function as the description in the manuals it came with said it would. They tell me Im SOL and I ask to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor isnt in till tomorrow so I leave a message. If I dont get a call back tomorrow Im calling again on Wednesday. I will get the costs of the damages covered.

But thats just the bad stuff...

I just recieved a PM from Jorg saying that he would replace the damaged speakers free of charge even though it wasnt his fault and I didnt ask him to do this for me! Of course I'm still going to pursue a damage claim with Furman, and if Im sucessful I'll make sure Jorg is repayed for his generous offer.

Thats killer service.
