Schroeder Cabinets ... smart design = very compact ! (regular and lights)

I'm getting a 410 Schroeder in addition to my1210, but not to be used as a two cabinet setup. My head is a 4 ohm max and frankly, the thought of getting back into a 130 pounds of speaker cabinet schlepping doesn't appeal to me. I'm all of a sudden got a rash of outdoor and potentially indoor, larger venue, gigs, and want to have the option of one cabinet solutions. The 1210 is still the best single cabinet solution I've ever had taking the following into consideration: Volume, tone, weight, price, size/portability, efficiency. Did I mention quality control and customer service excellence? There's not much else I can think of here.

As for the 410, my expectations are exactly the same, but all the above factors have moved up a notch to accomodate larger or more accoustically challenged venues. I look at a 410 entirely as a stand alone, no need for more booty solution and I'll be quite astonished if that's not the case. Will report back after the gigs next week.

Congratulations on a excellent choice.

The 410 is a very versatile cab.
If you have the EQ capabilities, you can dial in almost any sound you want.

It's the most punchy cab I've ever heard, very fast and tight -- that's what I like the most about it.

Of course with just about any decent amp of reasonable size, you can make your guitarist(s) beg you to turn down, but I only used to do that when another band I was in got carried away with their volume.

Right now my rig of doom consists of a 1212 w/ 21012 on top. I will only use it all if I am provoked. I definetly love the boom of the twelve inch speaker. It really is the happy medium between the fifteen and the ten.

I have not had the chance to A/B them just yet. As soon as I got back from California with my new 1212, I was in the hospital fighghting spinal Meningitis. I have been out for a couple of days now and might be able to stand a little bass. I will keep you posted as to my impressions, Sean.

Man!......whats with all this hospital action! I just got out last week after spending three weeks in the hospital for an infection on my spinal cord. I'm glad everybody seems to be recovering.......it was the first time I missed a gig or gigs in thirty-something years

Just received my 410 today and I can tell it is going to be a great cabinet to gig with. It is very tight and responsive, with a low mid growl thing going on that I can tell will slice through a full band mix onstage. It also has a sweet sounding tweeter you can actually turn up and use!
This cab is replacing my current main box, an Ampeg PR410HLF, which is a nice cab but can be a little boomy and weighs as much as a Shetland pony.
This is the 3rd piece of equipment I have bought sight unseen from research done on this site, and once again I am impressed with the result. Thanks to all the TalkBass gearheads and to Brian Barrett @ The Low End who got this latest GAS cure to me very efficiently...

Fedex was meant to deliver two days ago. I rang them and they said they delayed and aparently passed it on to Aus Air Global express or some crap today.

I ring AAG (?) and they have no recolation of it in their system and to ring back tomorow morning. And if it's in the system then, it will be delivered before 5 hopefully.

Two problems.

1. I'm at school in the morning and can't call.
2. I HAVE A FREAKIN GIG AT 12PM TOMOROW!! Arg. And i'm in a pretty far away suburb, so probably no chance of getting it..

And my Mesa goes tonight, can't use the SWR's either. Yey for having no rig at all for the gig. Can't use the Trace as a pre through the PA, cos it's tube.. And I don't have a DI to go through PA.

I get a call from fedex this morning (whilst in school) and they say the cab hasn't being sent off from THEM because I need to pay taxes. I say I rang them up on monday, talked to them and agreed to pay the taxes on delivery in cash, they said that's easy done.
So he continues to say that we are in a rural area (which we are not, we are still in the city of Melbourne) and because of that, FedEx itself will not deliver it to us and will therefore give it off to those other couriers. The thing is, those guys don't accept COD (or POD for that matter) and that I MUST pay over the phone. I ask why they didn't tell me that when I called 4 days ago and they said they didn't know.
This guy then gives me a number to call so I can pay the tax over the phone.

When I get home later on, I call them up, and they don't really know what's going on with the cab, it's still in Sydney (which is in another state) and I say i'll pay the taxes over the phone and want the damn thing here tomorow or I really won't be happy if I have to wait till next monday and have no rig for ANOTHER gig.
They say that it's too late now, and they won't be able to get the cab here. They then continue to tell me that I could come and collect it from their depot in Weribee (which is two hours away, one way). I say no, and that I want it here tomorow, and that's final. If they can expect me to drive for 4 hours to have my cab sitting at home, they can bloody deliver a package that was meant to be here 5 days ago!!

Arg.

The operations manager dude or whatever from FedEx called me and told me they're putting the cab on a 'insert word that I forgot here' flight and i'll get it Saturday afternoon. It's not tomorow... But at least I can have the weekend/gig with it.

Nothing Schroder to add, but Fedex dont get me started on them.

Firstly Rural Area?... They come to the otherside of Geelong no problems via a FedEx van.

Anyways I have shipped with them once and wont do so ever again unless I have to. I got a set of Fox MTB forks from a mate in the USA cheap, as my forks were well flogged out. We aggreed shipping them express / garuntied delivery date, would be the way to go- as I needed them for the weekend for a 12hr race. So I forked out $90USD to ship them in the first place... Shipped on our Tuesday.

I get a call Thursday afternoon, Hi, we have a package for you, it will be there tomorrow. All happy and excited I got to ripping off the old forks on my race bike. Friday, I waited all day- nothing... That evening I had to put the old forks back on the bike so I could race...

Get to work on Monday and there is 4 messages left for me on the answering machine from guess who... FedEX. Not thinking about it at the time, but I remebered my work number was not listed as a contact number- I had both my Mobile and Home number on the forms / box and they went and chased up my work number

Very annoyed I rang them up to see why the hell my express delivery sat in a wearhouse for 4 days. Apparently I had $279AUD worth of tax and administration fees to pay- on a package, which was decleared much lower in AUD than that. I payed the fees, then asked to be put in contact with the persons manager to express my opinion rather vocally and diplomaticly....

Long story short- I got my forks the next day, a few days later I got a "generic writen appologie", and a cheque for my $279AUD. Apparently they thought the 1 was a 5... IDIOTS!

I certainly feel for you Pop, hopefully soon they will be on the doorstep When they are.... We want pics

Keep On them. Do not let tell you how it is. YOU TELL THEM.; Make sure you point out that if they do not make you happy - stress the customer service - you will be forced to start letting everyone you know on the internet, how badly you have been treated. I do not know the Australia FedEx Ground rules, but in the US, they have predetermined delivery times. Make them stick to them. Be forceful without being overly rude. Stick to making them deliver it as they promised. Stick to telling them you want a refund for the shipping and you want your package. Don't back down!!!

I've found if you don't hear what you like, escalate it up the ladder until you do hear what you want.

Make sure you get each person's name down on paper. Tell the person you want to speak to their supervisor and keep going up until it is solved.

Try to balance politeness with righteous indignation.

Keep it up until you get the result you want. Lean towards the angry politness! It drives them nuts.

just got home from a 1.5 hour gig outdoors. First time using the Schro 410. ooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeee....that was fun. Really punchy, clean, and articulate. Nice volume. I had so much room left on my 600 watt Focus head I could have doubled the volume. Nice high end....subtle, not paralyzing, but it cut through.

My bandmembers couldn't believe the punchiness of this rig. They heard every great chop and every freakin' mistake I made tonight loud and clear. It was especially effective with eighth and sixteenth notes and ghostnote funking around. The little slapping I did just zinged through me....it was very scary to know you have this much power and so much left over ready. Reminds me of driving the first time in a turbo charged car. I found that really invigorating, how much of a rush of power comes over the car. That's a similar feeling to having so much undistorted clean bass on stage, outdoors yet, no PA help...and none needed on this gig. 8 piece horn band. You gotta love it.

I was blown away....it was better than I expected and I was expecting a lot. Gotta nother outdoor gig tomorrow night subbing in Cleveland's top Motown show band. I've been preparing for this gig for the last three weeks and still don't have all the stuff down that I'd like to...the band plays three sets, a dance set, a show set featuring 4 singers up front, and then a final dance set....they don't stop between songs, they don't play the songs in the same keys as my other band, this is a real challenge, but to know that I'm gonna at least sound great, whether on the right chord or not, is a relief!!!

I'll keep you posted. Jorg called me yesterday to answer some questions and reassure me that the 410 was the best choice for what I wanted to accomplish as a little larger stand alone cabinet for outdoor and larger venues. He's feeling better but sore. I was thrilled to hear directly from him and be given personal service. The 410 sounds great. Now if they would just invent a 40 pound cabinet that sounds like this one although my 1210 is damn close.
