Fedex ground usually doesn't get here til 3;30 pm or so...but my 1210 just arrived! Woooo-hoo!

Initial impression: wow, that's small! Smaller than the avatar SB112 it's replacing. I can't wait to get off work and go to my band job tonight.

Damn, I looove new gear, and I'm ready to be best freinds with this little gem! Playing Fri/Sat/Sun, so more to report after the weekend.

I'm primarily a Double Bass guy, but I will take a Reverend with me just for fun. Just for science, I'll run my old black face fender bassman tonight, thunderfunk tomorrow, and eden wt800b on sunday. Kewl :D

Sounds nice! I have my first gigs with my completed rig on Sunday AM and PM. I finally got my Peavey power amp in, and it's just amazing. I can't wait to bridge it.... Hehehehe... :bassist:

more curious than overly interested. Used to own a black face one in the mid sixties. I never got the "vibe" everyone spoke about at that time. It was never loud enough for my gigs in site of having 2 212 cabinets with it. I'll bet it sounds decent for upright, but I know the 1210 sounds "better" as it gets more cranked. With your Eden not being "that heavy" you may want to bring it of the Thunderfunk in addition to the bassman head tonihgt. Just a suggestion.

I don't believe you'll have any tone or volume issues with these two heads, and maybe not with the bassman, but with only 50 watts much of which is dirty sounding, I don't know if I'd "trust" it to bring out the best in the 1210 or your upright. Give it a try of course, buy I'd take one of the other other heads just in case.

Larry...small venue tonight...I've replaced the bassman's 12ax7 pre tubes with 12au7's to clean the bassman up. I don't want or need the old bassman vibe. Suitable for blues guitar, but not Double Bass!...while it's not *real loud,* it's fat and clean for as loud as it goes. It's just an jazz trio job tonight, so I don't need tons of volume. It'll be fine;)

Small jazz gig: piano, DB and sax... took my DB, blackface fender bassman, and the 1210. The bassman is not a great match...plenty of power, but not flexible enough eq. I really missed my eden wt800b's or TFB420's eq section for DB...
I tried both of those this morning, much better! I put all 1100 watts bridged of the Eden wt800B thru it (though I did not crank it...yet!) and the 1210 seemed pretty happy about it.
It really likes the TFB!...
The 1210 does not seem have the built in massive low end bias of the SB112...this is a neutral thing as it's EASILY eq'd in. You can make the 1210 as fat as you want! It will definately soak it all up and throw it back atcha!
The horn is *sooooo much better* than the horn in the SB112. Smooth!
I know Avatar has to cut cost corners to bring their products in at the price point they do, but that horn was ultimately the reason I sold the sb112 and moved to the 1210....that and the 1210 is *both smaller and lighter* and that matters to me.
I've not tried an electric thru it yet.
I think the 1210 and the TFB may be the ultimate giant slayer-it's only just slightly larger than my swr baby blue 2x8!!!!!!
TFB/1210 is what I will use tonight...

Used the Schroeder for a gig yesterday. I played there twice in the same day, first time was a backline rig of Ampeg SVT3 Pro. Second time with the Schroeder + V8 rig.

First was a BOTB's in the day time, if we won this we played the gig that night with a few good local/interstate bands.
The BOTB's sounded really crap, it was in a BIG tin shed with wooden floors. PA support was pretty poor as well. We sounded hollow as you do, and overall it just sounded bad.
We won it and the night gig we all used our own gear (sept drums). I have to give some credit to the guitars as ones a line 6 + Randall 412 and the other is a Fender Cyber Twin combo (Both sound pretty nice). But the bass rig really shined, people commented on how 'fat and chunky' it made the whole set sound. We even filled the big shed real well. I used both o/d and clean through the schroeder and I didn't get lost at all.
I was through the house speakers a fair bit, but volume on the amp was 5 on gain, 3 on master.. Can't complain. I could hear myself all over the stage (on the far side, I dropped a bit) it wasn't a massive stage, but hey, for the volume I had it on, it's better than not hearing myself at all, I was happy.

Anyway, i'll do a full review tomorow. I'm tired now :)

I've used my 1212 with my SB112 a few times. I agree that the SB112 pushes more fat low, and I like the combination when played at low to low-medium volume. Unfortunately, when getting up to volumes above that, the SB112 loses its clean, and can't keep up with the 1212. That's why I stopped using the SB112 in my live set up...as I can get louder cleaner with the 1212 alone. You can push the 1212 to produce some of that with EQ, but my experience is that you're really fighting the cab when you do that and it's only partially successful. The cab stays 'tight' no matter what. In the end, that's good for stage, but I've been telling sound guys to give me more boom out front.

1210 and TFB420 last night:
Big Jazz dinner club, probably300 people in a big room. Piano, DB, drums, guitar, sax. Small PA, small backline. The TFB420/1210 combo did not break a sweat, running input at 3, and master at 5...eq esstentially flat with some of the low low (non para) bass eq'd a click, high treble (again, non para) rolled off 3 clicks, para mids rolled -12 at 800 hz (it's a DB thing), and timbre two clicks to the right.
Flippin' beautiful. Ran the horn at about 75% just because I can't bring myself to run more than that due to recent bad experinces with the avatar. I'll get over that;) Jorg's horns do a nice job of representing finger and string noise on a DB without presenting any of the foster/LeSon/piezo harshness I've come to hate since buying a Schroeder 410.
Played my Reverend BH5 thru it the last set. The 1210 had *no* problems delivering the BH5's huge bottom end, even at low B and C.

I'm a happy camper. I dunno, but I may be pretty well set with gear I *need.*
One can never rule GAS out, but as far as what I need to take to work, I'm done.

Glad to hear from you 'Happy Campers'.

I had band practice Fri. night and Sat. took my stuff to a DFW musician (95% talkbass people) GTG (there were several Schroeder cabs there).

I had a blast playing other people's gear.
I got to play Juneau's Dingwall AB I again and check out the controls a bit better than last time (great sounding bass).
Played Embellisher's Nordstrand SC5 (great looking, sounding & great playing -- I had to bump the bass boost a little to even out the 'B' with the other strings).

I got to compare my Dem 201S with Pete Skjold's new preamp and with Henry's (Biker4Him) Read Purity (used Henry's rig and cabs -- when checking out the Purity, he also has a Stewart World 2.1 a Schroeder 21012 and a 1210).
All VERY good sounding preamps.

Mark White (Spin Doctors) gave a bass clinic that was amazing and he used my rig and cab for the clinic.
He has a 4 string StingRay.
WOW! He's a jaw-droppingly great player.
Of course, my equipment sounded spectacular.

Whew, another gig report... but first a little backstory for some new gear.

Anyhow, geetar-playing buddy of mine owed me some money and only had it on his GC card. So we went up this past weekend, and I'd seen that Ibanez had their BTB models on sale, so I check one out, a 5er, and it's pretty decent. I was plugged into a big Mesa rig, so pretty much anything I threw at it sounded pretty killer. The guy had a Big Block in the back, he said, but nothing to push it through. I said just order a Powerhouse 1000. ;) Anyhow, it was a M Pulse 600 into a 410 and 115, so it rocked. They had some better basses, like a MM5, Bongo 5, even Streamer II 5, which I'd never played before (but HARDLY deserves the price they ask for it! I'd much rather play a Thumb!), but stilll good overall. I was about to pick up the Ibanez, when I spied a Spector Legend 5, dark cherry stain with the quilted top. I'm a previous Spector user, but didn't think this "lower end" model would really match up all that well... Well, I'm now an owner of that bass. :) It's pretty spectacular. I love the J/Hum pickup design, and the EMG Hz's are pretty hot, esp. with the 18V pre, so I'm thinking maybe some Barts later to calm it down some. The action is perfect, and the fit and finish is unbelievable for the price ($575 new).

All of that to say, my Schroeder rig just killed this weekend.

I'm not sure if they need a real "break in" period, but if so, my cab is past it. I wasn't exactly sure how my rig was going to handle the low B of the Spector, but oh wow, I barely left the B thru A strings on that bass, and WOW it sounded incredible. I had to really kill the Treb. on my Demeter pre, as the Spector's treble is really sizzlin', but now that I think about it, I forgot to unclick the Bright switch on my pre, so go figure... :hmm: I still need to sit down and correctly EQ the Dem with the Spector, so we'll see. However, I may have to get one of those Radial Bassbone things, as my basses are so different it's crazy switching during a show. So, the 1210 handled my high output, the max 500W of my Peavey amp, and the killer low B of my stuff with no sweat. I think I'm ready to bridge for our next large show. And probably going to add a 21012 instead of a 410 as my next cab too. I need more booty with my current gear and sound. I'm just so pumped I've just scratched the surface of what all this awesome gear can do... Sorry for the long post, but that's how good this stuff sounded!

500 watts will be more than enough. Jorg's cabs are very efficient.
Heck, my 1965 Fender bassman probably puts out a whopping 35 watts or so...it sounds killer thru the 410;)

When I use the 21012 and the 1210 I feed them 500 watts each. This is plenty of power for these cabs. I also use the 21012 as a standalone with either 500 watts or 1200 watts. Though I have to admit, I have been thinking about a Plx 3002 with a DB 680 on top.
