I traditionally play at two venues specifically that are an absolute nightmare....usually 2 to 4 gigs a year at each.
I used the 1210 at the one and as I mentioned a couple of times, it may have sounded good out in the room and it may have sounded great near the cabinet, but this place is so screwed up sonically that 10 feet directly in front of the cab (and still behind our rented PA with decent subs) my bass didn't maintain it's "sound" like normal. It did not seem to punch out per usual although the key player, who was 5 feet closer to the cab said I was knocking his dinner right outta him and he's never FELT a bass on stage that loud before. Our drummer and guitarist who were directly to the side of the cabinet rather than in front said they really heard me well for the first time in that room!!! Go figure right?
Venue #2, I used the new 410 I bought (at the old price

) and it didn't matter we were on a wood stage, I didn't have any PA support, the room doesn't absorb any db's with a high, echo rich chamber, it sounded great on and off stage.
I'm playing at venue 1 this weekend and will take the 410 with me. I just had removeable casters added so the low end if I leave the wheels on, should hopefully be a little more manageable in this room. As opposed to some of you, I don't have a power amp/preamp to be able to run 2 4 ohm cabs simultaneously. I bought the Schroeders each as a separate single cab solution. Based on how loud the 410 is on stage, I will not need more stage volume anywhere.
My attitude differs from some of you because I don't want to carry two cabinets and another rack system with a preamp, power amp and eq (or a another integrated head that goes down to 2 ohms) and power conditioner + two REASONABLY weighted cabinets....47 and 78 or so pounds to a gig.
If I ever needed a 1210 and 410 together to get enough volume at a venue, off or on stage, I can guarantee you everyone in the band will be going home with significant hearing loss. My one band has already told the drummer to stop pounding the piss outta his drums and turn down...AND grow up!!! I've never heard anybody play so freakin' loud in my life. There's more to dynamics than having only two volume levels, extremely loud and excrutiating loud.
He's turned down. Our keyboard player bought his own keyboard amp and now he's amazingly too loud, with no dynamics. We've told him either learn how to use the volume pedal or leave your freakin amp at home. In the meantime, these threats and their consequent "adjustments" have meant that with the exception of Venue 1 and 2 above, and a couple of outdoor gigs, I can use the 1210, Focus 600 head with eq and power conditioner, and have a fairly portable, 60 total pounds of clean, clear, and punch, great sounding, very hearable bass. And when the venue/support calls for it, can get away with 93 pounds using a 410 + focus/eq/and power conditioner.
Those are my "limits".....weight and ohmage (money too!!!

)
Schroeders offer the bass world new single cabinet choices, and even at the new prices are extremely competitive with mid and upper level cabinets. Like someone else said, it's still a bargain depending on your point of view. The other cabinets just mentioned, EA for instance, personal experience, the CXL 112 can't handle 1/2 the volume of the 1210. It sounds great, but you need two of them. Sure, one CXL112 with Schro's new pricing might be less expensive but X2, + over 90 pounds combined vs 47 and there's your real world comparison. I think the two EA CXL112's would be a killer rig if you have $1500 with shipping lying around and don't mind shlepping 100 pounds in and outta every gig.
I've owned Epifani NYC 310 and 212's, but not the UL's of either. The Schro 1210 and I imagine the 1212 also will smoke the 310, and I feel my 410 schro smokes the 212 epi I owned, I think the 1210 or 1212 will give the 212 epi a run for it volume wise, close to the amount booty and oomph, but the Schro is much cleaner and hearable on stage. The Epi 212 may have projected more bottom into the room, which isn't always good or bad, but again it weighed 80 pounds and was extremely awkward to lift and handle. I believe the new UL's are likely great cabs and everyone's gonna have an opinion on how they sound. For $1600 I have two choices one of which will sound good in that venue with that band.
You can't say that about EA or Epifani. I'm happy.
