I finally got a chance to really air out the 3101212 last week. Two sets, afternoon and evening. The afternoon I left it pretty much as is at practice and what not. Sounded very sterile and I was giving a ost eq mix to the pa. I cut a lot of lows out in the pre then put them back with a maximizer (more round low end).
Second set, I had a few more minutes to mess with it. Realized it was a really dead room, so I could get away with a lot more lows. Ran pre eq to the board, and really brought up the low end and overall volume since the pa mix was much louder as well. Oh, there was also an sm57 mic'd up.
The second set KILLED. We sounded huge. I could hear and feel myself anywhere on stage (it was medium sized, but big for a club). It's nice to be able to feel even your ghost notes in your chest from 8 feet away. Ahh... finally getting to work that cab. Still barely blinking 3 bars on the power amp
Good stuff.
Of course everyone came up to comment on it. The usual, *** is that cab? Damn your tone rocks, etc etc.
The sound guy was most impressed with my rig and he never heard anything like it. I was feeling cocky and said, I'd put it up against that thing anyday, and motioned my head to the svt 8x10 standing behind it.
I stand by that statement.
