these to an Avatar is like comparing a leftover Guitar Center MIM Jazz to a Sadowsky!

Jorg builds them in the LA area... not sure the closeness... I'm an east coast kinda guy :bassist:

Right now I have a Acme B2 and a 1210, and the 1210 wins hands down. I plugged into a wwu (w/ flat eq) and george l's cabels to get the ultimate clean sound. Basses used: Modulus Q6, fender P ('58), fender J ('62), and fender J ('78).

Findings: 1210=loud, clean, and it cuts through the mix. The tweeter is especially nice b/c you can run it full and bear it (especially nice for digging in with the Q6). very nice low and mid range too.

Acme: not loud, but very clean. Nice for a in house practice amp or studio side amp. BTW, for all of you guys who enjoy playing classical on the electric, the acme is incredible for that.

I tapped, slapped, thumped, and everything else out there at high levels and the 1210 did not loose its tone, but the acme farted a couple of times. hands down to the 1210 for any genre.

Took a drive out to see Jorg Saturday morning and check out his cabs. I don't like buying stuff I can't hear first, and I generally can't stand hype of any sort. But there have been a lot of people here who think these cabs are too cool, and since he's relatively close (30-40 min on an early weekend morning) I figured it was worth my time and energy to check it out.

First things first: Jorg is a real gentleman, and a very bright guy who has a passion for his cabinets and for bass playing in general. We spent over an hour A/B-ing my rig (GK 1001RB I and an old Hartke Transporter 4x10) with his 1212 and 410. I brought two of my basses (StingRay5 and an old G&L L-2000). He played a few of his (a beautiful Benavente and another 6er that was killer -- can't remember the name right now). We also tried his Acoustic Image Focus and an old Genz-Benz head I brought along -- and everything sounded smokin'! HUGE open sound, and with amazing clarity. Pretty efficient, too -- even the old Genz sounded good and full, and it's only 200w! I finally settled on the 410 (I think it's the quick response of that configuration that makes my ears happy...)

It's now Sunday night, and I just got home from a rehearsal with an alt.rock/punk singer I work with as a paid sideman, and everyone in the band was just floored. This cab sounded great, lots of low end rumble but so clear! Can't wait to gig this thing -- won't be until early December, but I'll report back when I have a chance to open it up onstage.

I'm inspired that you’re still inspired with the cab!!! Its wonderful to hear when guys gig and gig and still loves the tone every time they play and gets more inspired. Of course having a cab that cuts can sure be inspiring :)

Chew from the North Mississippi All Star's calls all the time just to say thanks and how much he loves his Schroeder's. He actually loves the cab so much he called last week to see if he could rent someone's in NY or Tad's from Blues Traveler’s for a Carson Daily show they where going because he didn't want to play anything else and they where not planning on driving all their gear.

Its so much fun when players find full fill meant weather is be a cabinet or bass, preamp/power amp, etc. What a great business to be in!

Yeah, I'm definitely a believer.
Especially since I got some better tubes (NOS Sylvnia 7025 & Jan Philips 12AX7WA) in my Dem 201S, I've been in tone-heaven.
Cuts through with really great tone!

I've got a 201s myself and am awaiting my first 1210. I've been debating selling it and my Crest in favor of an AI Focus, although I do love the Demeter's clarity and musicality. What would you say those new tubes do for the tone compared to the "stock" tubes (or whatever you were running before)?

It sounds more organic and musical, with smoother (much less harsh) treble, more articulate lows, and punchier lower mid-bass.
A bit less harmonic content than the EH's (which mine had stock), but cleaner as a result (not sterile clean, still plenty rich sounding).

Note: I don't think the tube on the right side as you face the front of the preamp has much (if any) effect on the tone (I speculate that it might affect the level if you put in a tube with more or less gain tho); that's the FX Loop/Output tube. The tube on the left is the Gain/Tone tube (that should be your money tube).

I saw this thread and I had to comment on my own Schroeder experience. Before I met Jorg , I was looking for a speaker cab that was portable , but could handle alot of wattage with definition. It also had to be affordable. I wasn't having much luck, at the time I was just gutting all the decent cabs that I did have and trying to get the most out of them.

Well lucky for me back in July Skjold Design Guitars hosted a Dallas,Ft. Worth get together for Talkbass members and Jorg came out from Cali . When I heard that he was coming I wes both excited and sceptical. I had heard some of the claims and I thought this will be exactly what I'm looking for or it will just be another new cab on the market. Well ten minutes into playing them , ( espesially the 1210 ) I was sold !!!! I took Jorg aside and said WE NEED TO TALK !!

I became a sales rep that day :hyper: and I play them as much as I can , and like Brian said what a cool job.

I could go on and on with why I think these are great cabs but I don't need to. From this thread I can see that I'm not alone in what I think makes a great sounding cab.

Yeah, I keep flipping back and forth between the 1210 and 1212... Think the 1212 is my favorite of my pair.

I think that is a fantastic idea James. Hopefully Jorg will see this thread and put that in to action. We'll call it the "James Hart Signature Cab"!

no, I have a 1210 and 1212... I contemplated the 21012 months back before this thread and receiving my 1210, but I've never got into 10" drivers, I like the extra roundness of 12" but without the slowness and boom that 15" & 18" can develop.

Besides, how does 2 front fired 10s and an angled 12" compare to what I mentioned?

I like the front fired 12" tones (been using 12" in my rigs since the early 80s). The 1212 and 1210 compliment each other perfectly for my need. 3x12" + 1x10" :bassist:

I was just goofing on the combining of them :D I'm set with my pair! Like I said to Jorg, if I need anything more then what I have... he'll be shipping cabinets to my Tour staff and team of roadies :bassist:

The 21012 has a HUGE sound and a tone that is thick on the low end and mid-bass, but still has punch and quickness similar to the 1210.
