Searching for a Bass Delay pedal

I love my Boss DD-7. Very versatile. In addition to standard delay options, you can use it as a looper, get a reverse effect, and the delay itself can extend beyond anything that would be conceivably useful (6.4 seconds). Here are some examples, though you'll have to forgive my sloppy playing.

I've tried:
I'm looking for a mini delay with a decent sound to make ambient noise, and a pristine bypass. Doesn't need features, but I'd like it to fill space sonically while not filling space on my board.
- Boss DD20: sounded pretty good, lots of functionality, a bit noisy
- Line 6 Echo Park: Decent sound, lots of modes, annoying tap tempo implementation
- Flashback: really clean, many modes, annoying tap tempo implementation
- Diamond Memory Lane Jr: Great clean analog sound, excellent tap tempo
MXREHX Deluxe Memory Man 550 Tap Tempo: Gorgeous rich fat sound, wonderful tap tempo, beautiful modulation, maybe slightly dark for some people, and BIG.
If you want a small pedal for ambient delays get a tc mini and change the toneprint. check out some of the toneprints. Pretty nice sounds considering you can get them with a mini pedal that's $99 new.
I was trying to decide between flashback and carbon copy, then I heard videos of the Maliki 616... Hmmm.
The Akai Headrush E2 is a decent unit, has a built in looper (short time) too, and is only ~90$ at sweetwater last I checked.
Generally speaking, digital delays create/can create very clear copies of the original signal, although with some of them you can alter it. Also, they have longer delay times and most of them has a tap tempo. Analog delays can color the sound and do have shorter delay times. Most of them don't have the tap tempo option.
I prefer analog delays because of their sound, but this is very subjective. The one I have is the carbon copy. I did an A/B comparison between the carbon copy and malekko eko, and carbon copy won. It sounded more organic to me. I also used an ibanez ad9, which is the cleanest analog delay i've tried that I really like.

I've tried a great many delays, and the one thing that i found i needed on the effect to make it infinitely more usable was a lowpass filter.
The Strymon El Cap has this ability, so i can make it work in any setting imaginable.
With other delays, everything was just mudding up the signal, but if you take out the lows, you can use it almost constantly (not that i'd recommend it).

I really dislike the Carbon Copy. I used to jam with a guitarist who had one, he got great tones but whenever he kicked in the MXR everything turned to mud, it adds a bunch of low end to the sound.
Another vote for the TC Alter Ego. Bought one earlier this week and it's already my new favorite pedal.
I've got a TC flashback mini. Although the tap tempo is a bit quirky, it's an incredible unit for it's size, construction, and versatility. I use the "bright analog" toneprint.
Not particularly no. This would be my first delay pedal with the bass. After checking out a bunch of YouTube vids I ended up buying a Jack Deville Dark Echo off of ebay. If for any reason its not a good fit im gonna try that TC E Flashback.
I really like the TC Flashback. Highly recommended! Some of the available toneprints are really useful.
Yes, I've got one. It's fairly new to me though. Sounds great but it's not a delay as such. You can get a shorter delay, but only with one or two repeats, i.e. no long trails, ambience etc.

Ha! time to listen to some demos. for some reason I thought it was a closer cousin to the El Cap.
My DD7 has done me wonders beyond what I even thought I even thought. I was originally going to go down the DD3 route but the DD7 sounded a little more clear (to me) and had more delay options and had a looper setting(even though it cant work simultaneously with the delay). Since I play in Drop C and in Standard 6 string, I really wanted the low end to cut through and it does. If you want a good pedal that has a lot of delay options I'll always recommend the DD7. If you want something super simple but just as expensive go with the carbon copy. If you have any more questions about the DD7 hit me up dude.
Yeah I've been looking at that one, that and the Brigadier. They both look awesome.
Whats the oscillation like on the El Cap? When you hold the tap button to make it oscillate, does it just get a little washy, or does it get out of control?
