As for me, I may well have some news but will tell all when Martin gets back from NAMM in a couple of weeks or so…:ninja:

Well, that was a long couple of weeks! The supply of finished basses and new builds seems to have dried up a little, so I’ve rectified this by ordering another multi-stringed monster from Martin! :D :hyper: :bassist:

Specs for the bass are currently:
  • Ripple ash single cut custom shape chambered body
  • Flamed maple through neck, with Wenge stringers (35” scale length)
  • Amboyna burl front & back body facings
  • Honduran Rosewood burl front & back headstock facings
  • Fretted jet black ebony board with Honduran Rosewood burl position inlays (amboyna burl @ octave)
  • Single Delano pickup (Musicman style) & Audere circuitry
  • Possibly piezo or midi or both!
  • Black hardware
  • 9 strings (tuned low F# through high A#)

I’m really excited and proud about this bass, as it is my own design I’ve been developing over the last 6 months (with the ever excellent input from Martin). Whereas the SEI 8 was a modified version of the flamboyant template, this design started life as a blank piece of paper. It is quite a curvy design that blends many of my favourite design elements seen on a variety of basses...somewhat different to the standard SEI shapes. Martin seems really quite excited about building it which is also really nice! :)

Ooh, ooh, ooh!!!

Spoke to Martin this morning and he was in the process of stringing up my fretless "oil slick" Macassar ebony faced Singlecut fretless!

Yay!!!! Looks like I'll have it real soon now - can't wait as it looks fabulous - it'll be great to be able to play it after all this time.

I'll post some pics as soon as I have any

Looking forward to those, your bass was looking gorgeous the last time I saw it a couple of months ago.

Hi guys

I know things have been a bit quiet of late but that's just the calm before the storm - there are loads of lovely Seis nearing completion - and there are some real beauties in all shapes and sizes!

Martin is beginning the final stage of my build this week - those pesky Nordstrand pups should hopefully turn up this week and with a bit of luck the bass will be ready in the next two weeks... hot diggity dog is all I can say to that!

I'll obviously keep you all posted.

Sei's definately bring a smile to one's face. Rumor has it my newest addition might be ready for retreaval from Martin's La-bor-a-tory in April when I swing by from the states. Here are the latest photos of my M-7 which is going to be fitted with scarce-as-hen's-teeth NOS Lane Poor p/ups. (If none of the fancy linking to PicassaWeb works below here is the link to the album: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

For a slide-show of "the collection" (someone requested) let's see if this embedded link works...
