wow
ive pretty much just discovered the Sei basses.
the Original model with headless necks are sexxxxy.
i want a 5 string. i guess i better start saving haha.
based on what ive seen, they seem fairly affordable compared to other brands like alembic and fodera.

I really like this one, but id want green LED inlays. and maybe black hardware. as far as electronics im not sure what id want.

Hi BassIsFun17. Welcome to the thread, that headless you like is really stunning and I know that Martin considers the Original shape works better headless than headed, so you are in good company. Do check out this thread and the previous one for lots of great photos and information about all things Sei.

And if you do decide at some point to get a Sei, new or used, let the thread know and we will help you all we can.

Regards

Matthew

Hey guys

I know it's been a bit quiet on the Sei front lately - I know Martin and John are busy as ever so I guess we all have to wait until the new year to see the next batch of beauties appear. In the meantime I've been loving my Sei more and more - it's a bass that just keeps on giving - I gigged it with my Epifani rig last weekend and the combination of the two was really inspiring all round - I got a load of nice compliments afterwards too - so she ay be a pretty bass but it's the music she makes is what counts. Speaking of which I spent the day mixing this new band project I'm doing with a great singer, drummer, and keys guy - it's called Labbatu - the first track from our LP is now on my Myspace page - 'Return To Me' - and it's got the Sei right up in the mix - I slapped it all the way through with the Piezo on - sounds wicked - I just went direct and added only a little compression afterwards - let me know what you think:

Anyway hope you are all coping OK with the recession/crunch nightmare - I'm hanging in there but next year is gonna be rough!

Take care out there

Mike

+1 on the quiete front. Guess Christmas is coming and all that...

Small update re the SEI 9, in that the wings and facings are on and a little edge radiussing done, through no truss rods, neck carbons or detailed shaping done yet and a whole lot of work still required on the fretboard. However, the anticipation is definitely beginning to built and Martin seems uncharacteristically excited about this one, which is nice! :)

As for the ankle, I can use it without sticks but it is still swollen, painful at times and looking increasingly likely I will need to have the metal work taken out in the sopring / summer of next year. :hmm:

Mike

Great sound as always on the track. I found it quite hypnotic!

Sei42bass

Good news that your ankle keeps improving.

My news

Things are really tough financially and I may have to sell my Sei fretted 7. This is a last resort but family & home comes before basses. I hope to wait a month or so before putting it on the market but if there is no improvement then she goes to the Gallery for sale.:bawl:

Being positive, happy christmas and new year to everyone

Sorry to hear that, Matthew. I remember having to sell my first Sei (along with my pseudo-Sei that Chris McI did for me beforehand), thanks to being made redundant... it broke my heart at the time (especially selling the pseudo-Sei - that bass probably saved my life), and I still miss them, and hope they'll show up on eBay one day so I can be reunited with them.

Still, one thing I've learnt is that things go down, then they come back up. If you do end up having to sell the Sei, Martin will still be there to make you another one when things get back on an even keel.

bloody good for £750 :P

yep buy of the century, thank you credit crunch.

In all honest though plays lovely, might need a tad of a set up to unleash its full potential but it is a glorious bass

Good to see that you made it over here, d-basser :D

As some background, d-basser has been having some bass lessons with me and has played my Sei 7 (good ol' Jezebel) a bunch of times. Can someone tell me where the serial number is on a Sei? I honestly have no idea !!

A Sei for £750 though..... has to be the bargain of the year at least, if not the decade. :D
