Maybe you should reconsider. Even if you are not worried for yourself (I am not), we should all be worried about the spread and tenacity. If you have any old relatives or friends, or relatives or friends that have medical conditions, you (and all of us) should be taking every possible precaution.I'm not at all worried about coronavirus. I am, however, terrified of people who are panicked due to coronavirus.
I'm IT at a local government. I really have no idea what will happen. We are in Alaska on an island but Alaska Air flies in twice a day so... there's that. Just praying to the Good Lord that they figure it out before it gets here. People are starting to buy out all kinds of antiseptics, wipes, etc. Wife has a pantry full of food and we have an upright freezer filled with venison and fish--halibut and sockeye. Think I'm going to buy a dozen pizzas!I'm an IT guy at a state university. We just cancelled all face-to-face classes for the next 4 weeks. I'll still be going to work, but it will be a ghost town.
John
tonight?I'm gonna wang chung!!
Take precaution, sure. Worry and freak out, no. But as I said; I'm not a doctor nor a scientist so maybe it itself is more serious than I believe it to be.Maybe you should reconsider. It’s unfortunate that petrus61 isn’t able to comprehend or is simply refusing to acknowledge the very valid distinction that you are making, but either way, it has become clear that debating the matter with him is a pointless exercise. FWIW, any moderately intelligent and rational person will understand your point and recognize that you are right.Uh, you are not very good at reading. I didn't say the opposite is true. I said WHAT YOU SAID IS NOT TRUE.
EDIT: Fyi, there are 13,506 school districts in the US. Step off.
I think it's serious. If you are young(ish) and in good health, it's not serious wrt your health maybe, but wrt to your friends, family, and pocketbook, you should be very concerned. I agree that panic is the opposite of the right response.Take precaution, sure. Worry and freak out, no. Oh well, I've given up. I admit I do have a persistent need to be right, but in this case I am pretty sure I am. I wasn't trying to start an argument, but to quote Ron Burgundy, "that escalated quickly."It’s unfortunate that petrus61 isn’t able to comprehend or is simply refusing to acknowledge the very valid distinction that you are making, but either way, it has become clear that debating the matter with him is a pointless exercise. Maybe reconsider wearing that particular hat.One of the "hats" I wear at my job is incident management/continuity of operations. ... from an incident response standpoint, I'm not at all worried about coronavirus.
I agree on both counts. You are right, and that did escalate quickly!Oh well, I've given up. I admit I do have a persistent need to be right, but in this case I am pretty sure I am. I wasn't trying to start an argument, but to quote Ron Burgundy, "that escalated quickly."
Thanks for the sentiment. Now that is the kind of advice we need, and more importantly, very glad to hear you made it through ok.
Well, it’s admittedly a tried and true response to crisis, but there is some seemingly unresolvable tension between the hooker part of you plan and the whole “social distancing” thing!Blow and hookers.
Always my go-to.
Since everyone seems to be “hoarding”, don’t forget the 9v batteries for the pedals, a battery powered amp, and extra strings. Let’s take this thing to the next level. That was meant for the daily laughs. Stay safe everyone, we’ll make it through all of this. Ground Zero signing out.

It certainly sounds plausible that it could have been COVID-19. I’ve seen three children that had the virus, and it barely slowed them down while it seriously incapacitated one or both parents. Sorry to hear your wife is still struggling and I hope she bounces back soon. For me, it felt like the cough and difficulty breathing was never going to go away. It finally did, but it took almost 4 weeks. We came back from Florida a few weeks ago and I was sick starting a couple of days later - terrible cough, shortness of breath, chills, aches, fever. I was diagnosed with flu type A. However, my wife and daughter both got "it", and it must have been the same thing, but both tested negative for flu. I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that my flu test was false positive and we actually all had COVID-19. My wife is still recovering from the coughing and shortness of breath symptoms - and those were by far the worst aspect for all of us. My daughter was barely sick - she had a bit of a cough and she had a fever one night, but she rebounded super quick.
