Oh, the irony. You’re calling out posts that you don’t like.
Yet you propose that bass players should abstain from discussing bass playing they don’t like - on a forum called “Talk Bass”?
If their reasons are bigoted, sexist, close-minded, etc., then their post has helped you curate your “ignore” list.
But valid arguments that challenge your own opinions will expand your knowledge and understanding - if you let them.

Asking the internet to kindly refrain from speaking if they haven't got anything nice to say seems like a long-shot, but Godspeed on your quest!
Instead of asking people who don't agree with your impeccable taste to pipe down, why not try just shrugging it off and moving on to the next post instead of banning them. Discourse doesn't really happen when everyone agrees, that's just an echo chamber.

Any time someone drops the Boomer card, it tells me they have nothing to say worth listening to. Just a small minded bigot.
Can we ban people who start stupid threads like this one?
“New, young and upcoming” are not how I would describe Thundercat or Michael League. Those guys have been big names for well over a decade!

When you want to start banning people and labeling them because the have an opinion about something ‘bass related’ on a website that is actually meant to talk about bass called Talkbass and it differs from you is sad.

The general answer to your question is no.
But here's where Talkbass just turns into a giant echo chamber only meaningless posting about nothing of any consequence.
My thing is, so someone posts a thread about something they saw that they're really excited about it... and I saw it and I really couldn't care less about it, rather than post in their thread about my lack of enthusiasm just to say I did, my response is to click the back button and keep scrolling. TBH, I don't care about 95% of the crapola on here anymore. Why try to make someone else feel bad so you can feel cool for a second? Keep it light, keep it fun, add something to the thread, or just stay out of it. The pile-on nature of this place irks me some days.

OP Jammy Jellerfish has some serious posting skills, is a great TB’er and all, but… posts generalizations and inaccuracies, stereotypes seniors, fails to do research when commenting on specific artists, and has not posted anything remotely relevant this century!
Remember, bass playing is not a competition. So please, no wagering.
Couldn’t agree more. When you’re talking about something subjective, there are only opinions. There will always be those who want to share their opinions, positive or negative and I will always enjoy the back-and-forth.

As for boomers, we should all be so lucky. That was probably the last of the truly resilient generations.
Don't know what you mean by "resilient"---the last able to rely on financial safety nets?---but certainly we're the most self-centered and self-congratulatory.
