I had a delicious pork souvlaki on a pita for lunch yesterday. Got it from a little family run Greek restaurant. It usually comes with some fried Belgian potatoes on it, but I only eat potatoes that come from the land of the free, so I get them to remove them. Tzatziki is delicious, but they lay it on pretty thick. Gotta get them to relax on the stuff. They have a spicy tzatziki that I don't care for. Regular is where it's at.
Today will probably be a steak sandwich with sweet peppers. Maybe some sautéed onions if I'm feeling it.

I could really go for a Ruben about now.

C'mon, who DIDN'T think of Peewee after a 'Ruben' comment. (Ruben/Rubens whatev, point stands).

I don't know. I'm 55 and don't have too many young friends. Nor do I want to ban anyone. Just tired of the "it ain't like it was in the old days" myopia.
💯 Thankfully my rose-tinted spectacles seem to be defective. The good old days often start to crumble under close inspection. I had family members who enjoyed recreating Victorian times but I was gracious enough _not_ to point out that statistically they'd have started out as children working in factories and would have had short impoverished lives.

The Four Yorkshiremen sketch is never going to go out of date!

Too many people on the internet feel entitled to start off with HE/SHE/IT S************CKSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!" and then go into an unhinged and incoherent rant.

Personally, I find it refreshing to see someone acknowledge a talented player's talent but admit that their style isn't your personal preference. The internet could use a good dose of mature, adult decorum. It'll never get it, but it's nice to dream, inn't it? ;)

As to the subject matter of the thread...

I saw that this morning. There's a lot of trchnique there. A LOT of technique. But the content? It doesn't work for me. It sounds like noise with occasional snippets of almost music. Do I wish I had that level of control over my instrument? Hell yes. Do I actually want to play like that or listen to it? Not at all.

But if we do like you say and ban discussing music we don't like, where does that leave us? If I can't express what happens for me when I hear the piece above, how would anyone who does like it have the opportunity to express what it is that they hear and do like about it?

If someone is able to understand what I'm hearing when I listen to that, they have the opportunity to tell me what they hear that's different. If they can articulate their experience and point out the musical ideas that I'm not parsing, I could have a chance to listen to that music in a new light, and I'd have the opportunity to have my mind changed about it.

If we don't talk about our differences, we lose opportunities to change our perspectives and broaden our horizons. How would that make our lives better? How would that make the world better?
