Seven String Sei

Mike - next d2d or at Lee Abbey in february if you are going! Btw how is you rig getting on!

Matthew
The new rig is just fabulous. I let a bass-playing colleague from work demo it and he was just blown away. Literally! I get lots of compliments on my sound from all quarters... Especially with my Ovation ABG. Mind you it's a bit of a double edged sword: "Your bass makes a really nice sound!" = "...but your technique sucks very badly." :D

Hey Matthew!

I must admit, I'm slightley excited to see this thread. I'm not sure if you recall us talking ages ago about 7 string basses? I have a Conklin GTBD-7.
I am putting together plans to have a 7 string built. The thing I was most interested to see is the maple neck. It is something that I really want on 'my' bass.

I have spoken to a few UK Luthiers and strangely, when I was discussing it with Alex at the bass gallery, he didnt mention that there was a 7 currently being put together, if anything he hinted that very rarely do they even get mentioned. hhmmmm.. I'd love to talk more about your 7 string, i'll PM you my email addy, drop me a line!

Hi

Just wanted to say, I think your bass looks GREAT, can´t wait to see the finished result.
Makes me want to order another SEI bass. Has anybody seen his Singlecut Series II design??

Peik

Sei's are great aren't they. Could you post a picture of yours as I am not sure if I have seen it before, but then again I have a very bad memory. [my daughter calls me 'Dory' from finding nemo. Not seen the new SC shape. I will have to do some research.

Regards

Matthew

Here's a pic of a single cut (which incidentally belongs to a tb'er - I think):

Pretty cool....

That is just too gorgeous, a thing of grace and beauty!!!

I keep thinking about going the custom route and I love the look of Sei basses. I just need to persuade the wife to allow me another woman in the house :p Fortunately I've got my beautiful Warwick - I'm never getting rid of that baby :smug:

How long is the total build time on that and how have you managed to keep patient - don't the pictures just make the waiting worse :D

Mine or Matthew's? :D
Mine took just under 10 months, start to finish. There were some delays, because of me being a fussy b'stard, with the custom Kent Armstrongs and the Hipshot trem bridge. But it was worth it. I recommend Martin wholeheartedly, and I miss being but a short train and tube ride away from them!

This is a sort of OT bump. But, there is a pic of the singlecut II style on the Sei website now:

I'm not sure if I like the skinny 4-string neck but the top looks wicked.
Have you had any more progress pics Matthew? I didn't get a chance to pop into the shop but if I do I'll try and bring my digi camera to take some more pics.

Hmm The Jury is out for me at the moment on this shape, the first Sei model that I hesitate over. I shall have to keep looking to see if it grows on me.

Sadly no more pictures at the moment of my bass. I am going to phone Martin later this morning to check on progress, so I will see if there are any more photos available. If so I will post them.

I would certainly be grateful if you do manage to get some photos as it is now very difficult for me to get to London.

Regards

Matthew
