Ok yes, that is a 2014 (Gibson 120th Anniversary) SG with the 2x15 800 watt Everette Hull invention holding it up. Oh yes, you were probably trying to figure out what the hell does this guy have mannequin parts in his music room for? Easily enough explained. My kids found the body parts at a close out store sale and brought her home to me. Yes I thought it weird too but why not? They thought it was funny. Check out the vintage talkbass t-shirt. Pretty damned cool as is the Rockhard {Eddy} Iron Maiden Moto Helmet she is wearing.

20 years from now, resale on the specials will be high as they are after all anniversary editions, by one of the oldest guitar builders out there. Not that I have any intentions off selling! I wanted a bran new sg for years but gibsons sky high prices were too rich for my blood! When this 2014 special came along I jumped on it! I wonder what the production numbers were on the anniversary specials, they seemed to come and go pretty fast?

To fellow club members - I find it interesting that we see all these really nice SG basses and hear how much people like them but unlike other bass clubs I'm in I don't see or hear much talk of modding or souping up our SG's.

If this was a Spector club we'd be talking about ripping out the stock tonepump preamp and putting in an Aggie or flipping the standard EMG pickups out for some EMGx pickups. Nothing against Spector basses, they're some of the best instruments out there, just using them as an example. Same goes for Fender, we'd be talking about Fralin or Geezer Butler pickups and Audere and East preamps and Badass vs Hipshot bridges and tuners.

But for some reason about the only change I ever hear discussed on the SG basses is Strings. Strings are important and I gotta admit I need to change mine and I really am curious to hear what others have tried and how they liked them but that's about the only change I ever hear about with these basses.

The Stingray club is very similar. People (myself included) gasp when someone mentions replacing the preamp with something else - its almost like it would cease to be a stingray at that point. I wonder, is the SG bass (like the Stingray) just such a unique and iconic sounding and looking bass that messing with it would somehow ruin it?

Don't get me wrong, I love my SG and can't envision changing anything about it, but I also love my Fenders and Spectors and wouldn't hesitate to change bits and pieces on them. So what gives? Just trying to start a little SG dialogue, jump in with your thoughts...

I immediately replaced the bridge on my EB 3 for a Babicz FCH bridge. A short time after, changed out the strings for flat's. That's all I did or plan to do because I like the pickups and the 3 position blend switch so much!

I love your Kustom Amp. Take good care that fantastic amp. The Kustoms were the true workhorse amps of their time. Your SG Std. looks great too!

Well, my SG Faded has gone to my shop to have the DiMarzio Model 1 pup installed. The Supertone bridge did open the sound up a bit on the E string, but it still wasn't as prominent as I wanted. I hopefully will have my SG back in a few days, as it's been the bas I've primarily been playing since I bought it. It also fit in nicely overall at my last rehearsal (a mix of rock and modern country), with a smooth tone that carries the sound in a different way than my P bass. I'll post a couple more pics when I get her back!

Random question - figured this group would be the one to ask: My Eb-3 has flats on it as of now and I've kicked the idea around of going back to rounds. However, I just got a beat up P-bass that I contemplated putting flats on OR making it my drop-tuned bass (either tuned B-E-A-D or something similar) with rounds. Question is this, should i keep the eb-3 with flats or make the p-bass my flatwound bass (much like the highlander, there can be only one!).

The P Bass is current "flats" bass in my arsenal, and I have a set of D'Addario XL Shortscale rounds on my SG bass. I've thought about putting flats on the SG, but really, there's tons of thump to it even with rounds, and the rounds give it more top end than I would get with flats. So, I say, keep rounds on your EB-3. As far as flatwound brands, my P Bass has a set of GHS Precision Flats on it, and I prefer them to my old standby Chromes flats. Hope this helps!

I debated that same question for a while.Only I had D'Addario Nylon tapes on my SG and Up in the air about the p bass.I ended up with flats on the p bass(chromes) Then I changed them back to Xl nickels after a while.SG's just scream flats or tapes to me,ymmv.Got the tapes on one SG and Labellas deep talkin flats on the other.I throw around the idea of putting rds on one but I just haven't yet.

I just picked up a eb5 and I noticed that I have a knot in the fretboard! Do any of yalls have any knots on your eb fretboard.

I've never seen anything like that on one of my basses. If it feels ok, though, I wouldn't mind if there was one. If anything, it's a definite identifier in case it ever gets stolen. Take pics along with the sn, for your records.

60 Gibson EBO with thumb mutes! No checking.

Then a 2013 Gibson EB5. The knot is at the 8th fret. Anyone else have any knots on the fretboard.

I had a 1969 EB0 identical to your 1960.

The bass is sweet. A shorty with dead strings and a mudbucker! That's a sweet tone.

Here's my EB-3L my wife got me for my 40th birthday. Ridiculously clean with no checking, original case and ancient flatwounds on it. I guesstimate it to be a '70-'72. It plays killer and sounds amazing. The mudbucker into an underpowered 15" is a thing of pure fuzzed out joy.

Here's my Epiphone Elitist EB-3 these were made in Japan, short scale with a set neck, I don't play it often and have been thinking about selling it, they don't seem to come up for sale very often and I'm unsure what to ask for it, anyone have any idea?

Please take care of your SVT-410HLF! I just sold mine because I don't gig anymore but I loved that heavy duty bastard.
