You play LH with your strings reversed, so yeah, it is a reverse P. Wow, I can't imagine playing that way RH.

If handed a left handed bass strung left handed, I look like a 1 legged duckling trying to fight a bear in a cage match.

Wow. Yes, cool that you noticed. The pickup is a Bartolini "Deep" P, perfect for this bass.

The body is mahogany and I spec'd AAAA quilted maple cap. I understand that if they decide to do it now the cap is bookmatched. Mine is one piece. The Dinky body suits me perfectly.

Anyone know why Yamaha switched the BB series from reverse P to standard P? Seems like it was a nice way to be a little different from a bog standard Fender P.

(And while we’re at it, how about a BB that’s just a P rather than a PJ so I can stop trolling Facebook Marketplace for old BB300s?)

Guild Pilots had them in 1984. Charvel 3Bs would have had them in 86 (I think) as well.

This is the config I'd want for a double P! I've got no use for a thin quacky pickup slammed against the bridge. This one's got the space. Would love to see/hear this beauty if you have any clips.

I don’t have any clips on hand, but let me see what I can put together in the next couple of days.
And yes, I designed this to have more low end without the tinny sounding pick up right up against the bridge.
The “treble“ side of the “bridge“ pickup is still in the standard P-Bass location.
The rest are in unique locations.
