I think you can find better instruments at a lower price. If you’re new to the bass I would start with a 4 strings. I mean a real 4 strings...

Just echoing the reasons why you shouldn’t buy this bass.
(1) It’s a 5 String missing one string. Why?
(2) Missing truss rod cover means someone has been messing in there and if they didn’t put the cover back on they likely couldn’t make the attempted adjustment or the truss rod is shot. This is a major Red Flag.
(3) Either 1 odd tuner or 4 odd tuners.
(4) 4 knobs that match, one that doesn’t.

Unless you like to take chances with your money and gamble, I would say forget this one.

(5) Three inlays are missing - 3, one at 12, and 17

The brochure doesn't seem to show one at 9 on this model, or it'd be four missing. The neck is probably trashed.

This catalog is weird. The blue one is 5 string but it says SR7100 next to it.
9th fret inlay is missing on the orange SR7105 which is way on the other side of the spread.
The the 7th fret inlay is dark on the blue one yet it has the 9th fret inlay.
Despite all that I really want a blue SR7100...

Not very common. I think it is the most expensive series of ibanez basses.

Nope, nope, nope. Not for €600, not for €500, not for €400. Maybe if you absolutely need a beater for €250.

1: Pickups don't wear out. They either work or they don't.
2: Why would it be? The one in the catalog isn't.
3: The same things you look for on any bass of any age. Bring a strap, an amp and a truss rod wrench. Look for obvious damage and repairs, weight, balance, make sure all the knobs and pickups work, turn the truss rod to make sure it's working, things like that.

If you want a 4 string it's probably fine.

all that plus , most defenetly negotiate a better price! in its current condition you have the upper hand! in my opinion it's way over priced for its condition!

This is a PRESTIGE! Not some run of the mill Ibanez that is a dime a dozen. The only merit is a missing string (you will likely replace all), a trust rod cover (cheap), and needs a matching tuner (cheap), and a setup. Take a amp and wrench and test the electronics and trust rod. If you can find some negotiating on the price...great!

These are great playing basses and were made with outstanding quality. Leo Fender said that quality Instruments are easily repaired. I dont see enough issues to discount this peice.

This place cracks me up. If this had been a wood rotted, paint faded, fret worn, knob missing American vintage Fender then everyone would have told you to buy it yesterday. Sheeesh.....

A Fender in the same condition would be worth more. They're heavier, which means they'd burn longer.

The denting and missing inlays make me think it's had a rough life. With that kind of impact on the fretboard, it's likely that fret or two are out of place - maybe the missing truss rod cover is because he was trying to fix that by tweaking the truss rod? I certainly wouldn't buy it without stringing it up (fully) and trying it, including seeing if the truss rod works and checking for fret anomalies.

I would be a buyer at 350 euros. Maybe a bit more but the wrong tuner just rubs me the wrong way (not the gold one, the one that actually doesn't work with the others). I can see the other issues being incidental to climate or other benign causes but the one tuner upside-down? That tells me there are some problems with either the bass or the seller. Those who say a replacement tuner isn't too expensive haven't tried to source an Ibanez-correct one in the EU. I know you've made the decision to walk away but you never know, offer 300 and see what happens. Ibanez lists the replacement necks at a price that isn't as bad as you might think who knows if they have one but if not, I've got a great luthier in Lithuania who will make killer replacement at a great price.

The upside down tuners is due to someone putting a replacement in the incorrect place. Like it was noted before, the OP will need to physically go look at the bass and assess whether or not there are any major issues.

As far as the tuners go, we aren't talking about rocket science or Gary Willis type tuners on this bass. Ibanez has a standard type tuner that is dime a dozen and easy to find. I did a quick search on Ebay Euro and was able to find a SET of these type tuners. Some of you guys are making a mountain out of a proverbial mole hill.

The Prestige basses went for $1200 - $1900 when they were introduced. So unless something is significant, I wouldn't cast these off as junk.

That depends on if you want cheap knockoff tuners or the good ones. The ones you listed are not the correct style either, a simple visual check would have told you that. Good ones, including direct Ibanez replacements, are really expensive here. Don't take my word for it, I only live here. I also had to get my quality replacement tuners when I went back to the states. Again, the good ones cost a bit more here.

First, stop putting words in my mouth. I never said anything about it being junk.

Second, it has been badly taken care of (several missing parts and shoddy replacements) which puts its provenance in doubt. So, all in, 30% of retail 10 years ago for a project/restoration isn't too bad.
