When I lived in Louisiana this happened to a small businessman. His named was plastered on every news station and newspaper in the area for several days. When it came out he was innocent a week later and the girl had lied the media gave it about 10 seconds of airtime. He suffered irreparable damage to his reputation and his business suffered as well. The girl didn't spend a day in jail. Yeah, he could have sued her but he would have gotten nothing, she was 20 years old and owned nothing.
That is a problem of 'trial by media' not a problem with false rape claims. It is terrible that the small businessman (under five foot?) suffered the consequences here, but the girl didn't ruin his life nearly as much as the media giving the story blanket coverage.

After reading this large heap of logical-fallacy-stew devoid of any arguments, I do have a request:

Lets ignore the gross trivialisation of rape occurring here for a minute...
Can you point out where this is happening in this thread? Give me an example or a quote.
How tiresome. Can we thank Richard Dawkins for popularising the phrase "logical fallacy"? It used to actually mean something serious, now it seems to translate mostly as "I'm a lazy pseudo-intellectual neckbeard who doesn't like what you wrote but cannot be bothered, or lack the intelligence, to voice a serious counter argument". Shame really.
Ooops... Ad Hominem!
If you need examples of rape trivialization, look at any post BawanaRik has made in this thread.
Ooooh... here comes the quotes!

And if rape itself were such an issue there would be anecdotal tales abounding.
But there aren't. I think we need to rethink making such a big deal out of this.
"I never hear personal accounts of rape attacks, so therefore they don't exist. It isn't the case that I never make any effort to read any".

How do you feel about keeping the innocent man, one of many, in jail for 15 years?
How much resitution did the false rape accuser make.
But what really I find interesting is that a false rape charge, billions of times worse that any alleged rape, get off lighter that the less serious "crime".
I cannot even decipher this crap.
BawanaRik said:
Since rape is infinitely less of a crime that a false rape charge how about we apply the same logic to that.
I don't even.

What you read were agengaiated stats. Of no use other that proving things that aren't real.
If stats suggest that a disproportionate number of rapes have a female victim and a male attacker then they are not to be trusted, because stats are "agengaiated", even though the government that compiles the stats is broken down thus;
- Women hold 17 (17.0%) of the 100 Senate seats, the same as the 111th Senate.
- Women hold 73 (16.8%) of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives, up from 72 in the 110th House of Representatives.
Somebody tell the majority male government to stop faking stats already!

I have read most of the posts in this thread and I have observed one glaring flaw of assumption, that ALL rape is male on female. There is male-male rape and rarely but it happens...female on male rape. When one states rape one must be clear to define the universal nature of said violent crime.
So by focusing so exclusively on womens rights around this issue, folks are stepping on potential liberty and or punishments which apply to a significant percentage of the population.
Welp, its post #190 in this thread, but it brings that unique insight.... well...
To quote ME, far earlier in this thread;

The longer that people discuss rape on the internet, the more likely that a few things will happen. Lets ignore the gross trivialisation of rape occurring here for a minute... these 'certainties' are;
1) Some 'cutting through the bull****' type dudebro will post "Bbbut, guys can get raped too! Nobody talks about that! I have no stats to back up my claim, but I reckon as many guys as gals get raped".
Ding ding ding ding!!!
Which is recapitulated AGAIN by that most serious of dudebros who previously declared my lampooning of THE EXACT SAME DAMN POINT as "logical-fallacy-stew devoid of any arguments".

If you account for the prison and military populations some statistics regarding rape will show men as the majority of rape victims.
Some of you guys make me real nervous... and I'm male.
