That's what I thought was the reasoning. The one I bought doesn't have foam. I guess I could add it or just use the cover to hold it in place.

This cover is probably gonna go on my other P bass, since that's the one wearing flats.
 
I don't remember having to modify anything... The neck fit just fine. What did you mean by "different neck bolts"?

Sorry, I meant the 4 screws that go through the neck and into the body.
They are of different threads, the Dirnt being Mexican made and the re-issue Japanese.
So I've never dared to swap necks, because the slighty smaller ones fit through one, but the bigger ones not through the other neck.
I believe the screws should go with the bodies, not with necks right?
