If you keep the '51-type cover from touching the bridge, it's centered, that's all.

Remember that this bridge cover is reversible and if you put it too close to the bridge in the normal position, it won't fit in the flipped position unless one wants two sets of screw holes for it.

It's not for electrical continuity.

The CIJ Fenders can be had for $550-ish, and the squiers much less....

Oh Chef I know, it's just hard to justify to the wife that I REALLY, REALLY need a 10th bass.
There is a '50s CV at my local store that I've had my eye on for awhile...I may just pull the trigger & deal with the fallout. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission or something like that right?

I have never liked red basses. I had a red RB650 that I've stripped & will be repainting and I hate that my Tobias is red. Can't stand 'em.

Does anyone know why people started flipping the bridge covers? Which way is the right way?

I've got a bridge cover that I bought when I had planned on a Warmoth '51 build. I bought a 60th Anniversary P instead. Debating adding the bridge and pickup covers to it.

Originally, way back in the day, the bridge cover had a foam mute at one end.
Some folks flipped the cover rather than remove the foam.

That's what I thought was the reasoning. The one I bought doesn't have foam. I guess I could add it or just use the cover to hold it in place.

This cover is probably gonna go on my other P bass, since that's the one wearing flats.

I don't remember having to modify anything... The neck fit just fine. What did you mean by "different neck bolts"?

I should probably check more often...
Sorry, I meant the 4 screws that go through the neck and into the body.
They are of different threads, the Dirnt being Mexican made and the re-issue Japanese.
So I've never dared to swap necks, because the slighty smaller ones fit through one, but the bigger ones not through the other neck.
I believe the screws should go with the bodies, not with necks right?
