Zomg!! I had this same model in 87 or so at school (Alderson Broaddus in WV) -- fell down some icy steps leaving on Christmas break and dropped the hardshell case (Was a weird trapezoid looking thing) -- when I got home and tuned it back up, I found that the headstock had snapped nearly through, and I had to have a local luthier fix it back up. He did a great job, but I traded it on a pile of road gear a year or two later at the Pied Piper in South Charleston WV. Sure do miss it now!

I agree with you. Unluckily I'm lefty and I live in Italy, so it's pretty hard for me to find an Alembic bass, and I can't afford a new one.
I've been lucky enough to find a second (or third, or fourth) hand 6 string Elan.
Even if it's really hard to play (broadneck ain't comfortable to me) it's still my favorite bass, and I have some Warwicks beside it.
I hope, some day, to have enough money to buy a four or five string model. Or a six string with regular neck!

From a recent rehearsal with a band I recently joined. Using the Mark King / Series II 5-string in stereo mode. Treble signal is going through the pedal board that I'm staring at and into the Ampeg on my left. Bass signal is going direct into the MarkBass F1 in the rack behind my right leg and out of the SWR Goliath Jr behind the guitarist.

Have to say WOW!!!
The Alembic's on this thread are beyond stunning!
Well although my beloved Alembic is a " Mere Mortal" Orion, It is for sure
one of my favorite in my 10 bass collection!
Mine is a 2000 Alembic Orion 4.
I bought it as new from the original owner who had it made for him and played it a handful of times and then he had to let it go. I was lucky enough to be in a position to grab it when it popped up that day on FEEbay :D
I have owned it for maybe 4-5 years now and it remains in as new shape.
It has a Mahogany body, Zebra wood top with purple heart stripe in between the two.
The neck is a 3 piece maple with purple heart layered in between.
The fretboard is Ebony and to die for!
Gold shaller tuners and all brass bridge and nut.
Super light and Perfectly balanced!

Was wondering if there is an Alembic owners club or group here on TalkBass?
If anyone knows of one, can you pass me the link to the thread, so I can grab a number.
Thanks! :)
