Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Playing around with this today

Yeah, all kinds of octave pedals that would probably be better than the zoom. My Mooer Tender Octaver MKII is great, cheap too.

I finally got the octave sound under control and it sounds great. The issue is the unit's underlying line noise, which was terrible while using the onboard compressor. That noise was still audible both before and after the BC-1x, so I removed it. I don't do the Mooer thing but I'm glad it works for you.

Great board! Uh, please explain the “small” MBD-1??? My standard size version needs to know about this...;)

JohnK did a few smaller prototypes (with the blessing of Jeff of Damnation) just to see if it could be done. He then sold off the prototypes. There was a slightly bigger one on reverb a week or so back. Still, the original from Jeff is where it’s at...

Thanks for the info...oh, and dibs on your IE Subterranea, should you ever decide to part with it!

Oh...wrong thread.

Are you running SubT - > OD - > Xerograph? I just picked up a Team Awesome Fuzz Machine and am trying to get it to play nice with my SubT and a Wonderlove Deluxe.... I guess I hadn't tried the SubT first, that'll happen tomorrow.

Tuner > 5th Gear > SubT > X7 > XD > MBD-1 > Wombtone Phaser > ADA Flanger > Nimbus > LPF is the full chain. I use the Octo Synth knob on the SubT as my ‘fuzz’ when I hit the filter for a full synth sound. Still, if I ran it cleaner and had a dedicated fuzz I would go SubT>Fuzz>Filter.

Also, with the Wonderlove you can really decide how nuanced you want your synth sound to be. If you use the loop for your octave/fuzz you can add actual clean bass to the synth sound with the WL blend. If you want lots of sub/fuzz with some filter, run the SubT > Fuzz straight into the WL. Then the clean blend on the WL is mixing Octave>Fuzz>Filter with just Octave>Fuzz as the “clean” side. I’m kind of explaining the obvious, but it sounds pretty different when you play with the setup.

Aaand I completely forgot about the loop on this pedal. Thanks for reminding me. Lots more experimenting to do.

Last night I was just moving them around, trying different combos, and it kinda seemed like the TAFM was... I'm not sure if there's a better word but overriding the other pedals. Trying to work out if I just had it set too aggressively but I wasn't achieving synth tones, more like fuzz with a little more crunch. I had the WL first because I was worried about making the filter go crazy with high signal going in but I'll move that back and try the loop.

I also have an MXR Studio Compressor coming in today so I need to find a place for that. I was thinking at the end in order to even out volume spikes.

EDIT - Yeup, effects loop, now we have some squishy synth tones!

Well yeah, why drive a Honda Accord when you have a Ferrari in the garage.

My (very successful) cousin has a Ferrari in the garage and he takes it out only occasionally, but yeah...he drives a Tesla when he's not in the Ferrari.

I drive a Honda Accord, but play Carl Thompson basses
