Show me your compact pedalboard setup

How do you like that Deadbeat?

A+ for looks, love the cool Moog styling, but C- for size, just needlessly big.

As for sound, well, I'm not very experienced with effects, so take all this with a grain of salt. My take is that it's like a lot of multi-effect attempts: jack of all trades, master of none. The best effects are pretty good, the bad ones are pretty meh. Fortunately, the ones that are most important to me (chorus, phaser, flanger) are some of the better ones. The wah is underwhelming, not a big fan of the tremolo and vibrato. The ring is just kind of hilarious as a party trick only. I'm not even sure what they're trying to do with the "dyna filter" and the rotary. The big positive surprise for me is the "detune" which is a chorus-like effect that isn't quite a chorus and I have to say I kinda like it, but I'm sure you can find other people who hate it.

So if you want to have a bunch of modulation effects all on one pedal and your standards aren't too high, it's certainly fun. I'm a beginner and it's perfectly fine for me noodling around with it at home. But if you really need a great, say, flanger effect, I'd just buy a dedicated flanger and be done with it.

Also, I think the internals are the same as the Coolmusic Modulator, which costs half as much and is smaller. So if I were to do it all over again, I'd probably have gone that way—but I still would have bought it, for whatever that's worth.

Thanks, the reviews were mixed, and I didn't know which side to believe. But based on the price, I guess we can't expect too much.

I'm sure it depended a lot on what each reviewer was looking for. If they wanted "replace my dedicated chorus, tremolo, and phaser pedals with no loss in quality" well, yeah, it won't do that. But if they wanted "give me a bunch of decent modulation effects in one tidy and relatively inexpensive package" then sure, it's great.

Put this together as a sort of get me by while I redo the big board. What a treat the mix of Rumblefish (> Monocle) > T-16 > Protostar...it kinda sounds like a controlled PLL a little bit. I might add a free standing Tensor or something at the end. This will probably go > P15 > direct board for upcoming jams.

I may have acquired a few more pedals since I last posted on this thread, but seeing some of your monster boards I think this still qualifies as compact. Built into a cheapo Harbor Freight briefcase. Clock is a DIY project using a mini Altoids tin. 1 Spot under the board.
Great job!! How did you pop the lid off like that?

It was easy enough to hacksaw through the original hinges and then replace them with takeapart ones like these: Hinges and Lid Stays

I flipped it over so the board would fit inside the shallow side of the case and used a crate lid from Home Depot that was pretty close to the same dimensions. All told I probably spent less money than I would have on a Pedaltrain with roadcase, but a heck of a lot more time on it. A fun little hobby if you enjoy such things.
