I get this...I’m a Darkglass artist and I only use it with the drive all the way down. Even with the B3K all the way down it just gives a little bit of push that I want and that is all I want.Absolutely how I wound up here. Am in the less is more camp these days... I like clean boost a lot now. It just makes the difference. I'm +50 so I can say this; It's like trying to read something, and then grabbing your reading glasses and it becomes much easier to see.
I posted a pic of my board with a spectra drive on the end a few posts back. I should have clarified that I have the "drive" part of the pedal loaded up with a clean boost.

I talk to one of Bethel Music’s bass players every so often and he got me into contact with one of their mastering engineers that mods pedals on the sideWhere did you have the mods performed?
If that works for you that is awesome...I prefer a clean tone %90 of the time.I'm doing the sacrilege of using a B7K Ultra as a cleanish tone and the distortion kicks in a more vintage tone. Probably not the designed intent.
Is there any benefit to using the cabzone with a preamp that has cab sims? Would love to see how you are using it on your pedalboard.
I just use the shift line Olympic mkIII with ampeg 810 cab sim as my DI and run a little dirt and comp with it.
Sounds like you might be using the cabzone as your DI. Is that correct?

Thats a great pedal, but it sounds a little different then the B3K with the drive down.In that case, the Harmonic Booster may be the way to go.

I'd characterize the Vintage Deluxe I replaced my B7K w/ as potentially fitting that bill.My dream is a B7K type of pedal, but the drive is more of a saturation / warmth than Drive.

You are correct...Even with the drive off there is a touch of hair...Harmonic Booster is a clean pedal. B3K and all the others have a tiny bit of drive even at minimum.
