Show me your compact pedalboard setup

This is my DI board. A few of these have come off before in the name of experimentation, but ultimately won their spot back. I use IEMs and a Backbeat.

Signal chain is tuner > comp > octave > driver > subsynth > cab sim > DI

For when I use an amp, from compact to tiny:

For no-amp gigs:

For when I need effects beyond delay on top, and a specialized board for when I am playing the piezo-only fretless on the bottom:

Before we locked down, I had a three-nights-a-week sit-down restaurant gig with a keyboard player. The effects board helped a lot by changing up the voices. We did a few tunes where we traded eights and fours with synth voices and envelope filters. I doubt the audience liked it as much as we did!

I hope we still have that gig when we open up again.

This is a Temple Solo 18 (small, but maybe not compact). Order:

Always-on Broughton HPF under board>
Fairfield Accountant>EWS BMC>Octabvre>You're Doom>
Randy's Revenge>Filter Twin>TLC Comp>Phase 95>
CC mini>LPF>Ditto>Turbo Tuner mini

The Octabvre and the TLC can easily be changed for others if I need a different flavor. I usually have the Accountant set 0-0, but do take advantage of it as an effect for the sharp attack and/or the overdrive. Power is the Temple-specific Cioks Hi5 Mod.

What are your thoughts on the Wampler Ego vs the Diamond? I’ve always had more transparent comps (I have the Ego) but have wondered about the more “voiced” classics like the Diamond.

I like the Ego for use with different instruments, in different situation, because of that neutral tone. I set it so it is barely perceptible and it just fills out the tone, and smooths out the peaks. Most listeners wouldn't even recognize that it is there. It is easy to employ (like that!), and works perfectly, for me.

But the Diamond, as you say, has a little character, especially when you start using the tilting tone control. The optical compression is ultra smooth, and very much to my liking. Almost invisible, like the Ego, but great for fattening up the tone a little and getting an even sheen to my playing without screaming "Compression!" The tone control is a different element, really changing the frequency response in a musical way. It is like the voicing control on a lot of amps, changing the tone from bass heavy to bright and crisp with one knob.

I find the Diamond has a cool overall tone with the tilter engaged, but others might find it duplicative and unnecessary, maybe even getting in the way of their tonal balance. It is kind of an idiot-proof one-stop handle on tailoring the tone for different rooms/settings for me. And I like optical comps. That Smoothie is especially useful for me, a very handy set of controls in a small box.

Any of those comps work really well for me, but again, I set them so they are almost invisible as comps, and guys who like a little effect or squash might be able to answer you better!

This is the first time I notice that someone other than me is using the same tuner for the first time :woot:
Only my tuner is black and I use it at the end of the chain as a mute button
It's the cheapest floor tuner that can be used with battery (for emergency situations). It works perfectly fine! Warwick throws the Rocktuner logo on it and sells it for couple of $ more than the clean chinese version.

I once bought some Pitchblack poly tuner but the poly function caused it be unusable with bass.

Yep, the cheapest floor tuner with a battery compartment and amazing quality! Bought about five years ago, or even earlier - never let down!

p.s.
mine is called Fzone PT-01

Hi all,

First of all, sorry for the lousy cable work, it will be organized better once I get my new cables.

This was kind of my dream in university years. Since I can afford it now, I said why not? (a logical answer is "I have no band to rehearse with).

Comp>BassDriver(Kind of preamp)>Future Impact>Chorus>Octave>Delay>Reverb>Looper>B3n

Open for any advices! I don`t have too much experience with pedalboards, especially with setting up a pedal board.

Mine was called GTR Tools CT1. Works identical to a copact Korg tuner that I also have.

@chillpaps Nice pedalboard! Did you put the Zoom after the Loop station on purpouse? Which cables did you order?

@Drzejzi Thank you! It is nice to my eyes and ears at least, but hearing from someone else is nicer

And the answer is yes, I put zoom after the loop station on purpose. Zoom is mainly my amp simulator and drummer, and these 2 specs don`t require to be looped. Sometimes I take it to my bag with a headphones to practice in a travel. You could advise to change looper with zoom tho, I`m all ears.

I had problems with colored cables of JOYO in the pic, you could see the red cable between FI & Chorus, they are not resistant to any kind of bending and cause some noise(if you bend them as I have lol). I have ordered grey Kirlin cables, you could see from looper to zoom, and some double sided jacks (but Im not sure about these either, because I may not be able to fix pedals to the board with so few space between them).

Rocking the 4 year old 3Leaf board.

I've got room for one more pedal. Must be top jacks or a mini. The responsible choice is a tuner. The fun choices are Phase 95, Julia, Dispatch Master, etc.

If I may stir the pot a bit more...one of my all time favorite pedal combinations was the Dispatch master into the Julia on vibrato mode. It was like someone recorded a cave to vinyl but left it in the car a bit too long on a hot day. One could seriously lose some time in that swirly vortex.
