Show me your compact pedalboard setup

I don’t like compressor before dirt, but the unit 67 lets me adjust the input gain to the SGT, which for hotter basses, helps a ton. Hot basses OD the grit circuit even at almost off gain.
Impressed with the unit 67. I’m surprised there aren’t more threads on TB.

this is my smallest board with onboard power amp.

Tweaked mine a bit. Super 300 out, OC-5 and Underground Accelerator in. That’s right, it’s 8 pedals on a Nano+. Liking this setup a lot.

I was SO confused by the comically large Boss synth, thinking I had missed something about oc-5 being in a mini case or the synth being rehoused as a gimmick… then looked back at the 1st pic made it clear what was going on

Haha, yeah, it looks a little goofy, but the SY-1 piggybacking on the FDeck hpf was the only way I could make it all fit. Still fits in the case too!

A small dirt wont hurt… a nano powered by a cioks dc5, This small dirt board can be really nasty… painters tape on the volt thrower stops it from blinding but wont stop the deafening…

What a great board :)

The 125B Volt Thrower appears quite a bit different then the bigger 1590BB version. Adds Mid control... two or three clipping options instead of the rotary switch? What are the clipping types?

The midrange pot and smaller enclosure are the main differences (and improvements!) in my opinion, but you are right that the clipping options are more limited:

Left: Silicon
Middle: No diode
Right: LED

You can also ask Nick to modify the 125B version to have Germanium and Schottky diodes instead.

Thank you. and mr. Erithron is correct .the clipping options on this VT is modifies to a germanium and shottky diodes.

Respect the packed Nano+! I managed to get 7 pedals onto mine. There's many ways to do it, I'm surprised most people stick to ~5/6...
Yeah, I was stuck at 7 for a bit there, with the larger footprint of the Super 300. I’m tempted sometimes to get a bigger board, but then I remember how much stuff I have to schlep, especially when I’ve got an upright gig. Sticking with the Nano+.

Yeah, I've got six pedals on mine atm (Subterranea, OC-5, Jam Rattler Bass, JPTR Jive, SupaFunk, Syntax Error 2) and three on the floor (Korg Pitchblack, Jam Red Muck Bass, Crowther Prunes and Custard). I've thought about getting a Metro16 or something, but I'm more tempted to just buy an HX effects and be done with individual pedals. I already use Helix Native on my computer and the effects are great, and I don't need amp/cab sims because I'm happy enough with my amp rig as it is. It's always a struggle. Decisions...

Am i losing my mind?
I had to remove my empress compressor because i found myself CONSTANTLY messing with the setting and never being totally satisfied. Once i did this i found an immediate improvement on all my dirt pedals: the BB, the Darkglass clone and gated fuzz.
Do i really need a compressor? Am i using it because everyone else is??
Na, not losing your mind. I'm in the same boat really. With one of my bands, I tend to turn it off for good because there's always at least SOME overdrive going on, so the SpectraComp is more, like, getting in the way rather than adding anything to my bass's punch etc..

With the other band I decided to – if not ditch the comp for good – replace the Omnicomp with something simpler. I, too, found myself constantly fiddling with the settings even though it's really not necessary. It's more of a psychological problem I guess; the Omnicomp's adjustability just triggers my fiddly nature. Like, "it could be even better if I changed Attack, and I'm sure it's not the optimal blend yet". I'll put my old Diamond BC-1 on the board instead.

That said, the first band's compact board is shaping up nicely. Will remove the SpectraComp though; I really don't need it with all that dirt (board goes into a rather grindy Orange Terror Bass).
