Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Building this one so far, Proton in the loop and drives/Fuzz modulation on the Stomp with a DC4 powering it all

How is that Fender chorus? Anything it compares to?

Somewhat similar to an MXR Analog Chorus, but easier to use, and can also do a better tremolo effect. It nails the tremolo from Carole King's Tapestry. I bought it to replace my Astra Modulation Machine, which was way to complex and I could never get it to sound right. The Fender is easy to set and use.

Am i losing my mind?
I had to remove my empress compressor because i found myself CONSTANTLY messing with the setting and never being totally satisfied. Once i did this i found an immediate improvement on all my dirt pedals: the BB, the Darkglass clone and gated fuzz.
Do i really need a compressor? Am i using it because everyone else is??
I've found turning the compressor off when adding some overdrive improves the tone as well.

Are you going into amp/cab or DI to FOH?
If FOH, maybe they are adding extra compression?
Also, I see you have a Broughton HP filter.
Maybe that and the compressor is too much.

Is your compressor before or after your drive sounds? I very much dislike putting compression in front. Messes things up for me! I use it only for some peak/spike limiting towards the very end of my chain.

Straight to the Amp and I DI from the amp.
The HPF is at the end of the signal to keep my B string sound tight.

I have my compressor at the front before everything to give all the pedals "an even signal" but I think thats ruining my dynamics on my dirt pedal.

Maybe I'll try it at the end of the chain but my practice last night sounded great with no compression. I really only bought a compression pedal when I was new to 5 strings to help even out the volume of my B string versus the G but I've developed my playing on the 5 that the volume is almost level.

Compression is such a rabbit hole. Front of chain, end of chain? What kind of compressor. Sometimes it's just too much.

I can see how drives that are sensitive to dynamics would be better pre compression.

Empress Compressors are great but I found myself adjusting it far more than any other I have owned. I actually have owned the original and the V2, and aside from the form factor I felt like I preferred the original. Odd, as I don't think they changed the circuit at all.
My Compression is after my OD. Sometimes I turn the comp off when I have OD on, sometimes I don't. Depends how it is sitting in the mix.

... sometimes it's just inability to disern the difference, lack of experience and good old fashioned operator error.

Then it's time to blame the compressor! :cigar:
I bring all the settings and ratio and everything to as minimal as possible, when i turn it on and off with the dirt pedals on its in audible difference. Im by no means a pro but my ears can hear it. I think I'm going to try it down the chain and if it don't work there, meh. No compression, let FOH worry about it

I had a diamond bass comp and loved the tone color, everything sounded better and it was an always on pedal, but I replaced it with a miura M2 and is so clean that is almost impossible to hear the difference between on and off, it doesnt change my tone at all. My next try will be a smoothie or a photon dead ray.

FWIW, I use a Wampler Ego and it's before my drives but I only use it with my B7K Ultra. I don't use it with my distortion and definitely not with my Big Muff. I like compression on my modulation pedals a lot.
