Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Could you give me your opinion on the Barber Linden EQ pedal, please ?

May the Groove be with you.

It was off my board for a long time because it didn't quite have enough output to drive a power amp, but it has a very rich tube like tone to me with a nice chewiness to it.
I like the top left switch hard left when playing a jazz, and in the centre which is a little less mids with a Pbass. This surprised me to be honest.
Supposed to be a B15 type pedal. Never played a B15, so I wouldn't know. Part of my tone board, rather than my regular board with lots of effects.

Changes to my mini board gave me ideas for improvement to my large board.
TC Spark Booster off, Boss LS-2 on (I can use the LS-2 as clean boost if need be)
GLXD off, MS-60b on. Power out on Rockboard patch bay is connected for use with the GLXD. BSW is in one loop, MS-60B in the other. Really nice of Boss to color code the volume knobs for those 2 pedals for me.

I know I promised no more changes, but redid layout of my Nano to bring spark mini to bottom row. Much better for ergonomics. Every pedal had to move, and power reroute to find a way to keep it quiet.
Can swap out chorus for Valeton Coral MDR (Modulaton/Delay/Reverb)

Jam tonight with some new folks. Using a Trutone CS-7 for power but have everything decabled right now.

Really dig Mr Black pedals and have two in this board. I'm trying not to overlap much between this one and the big board.

How do you like the Mastotron? Does it have any useful lower gain/fuzz usage for you? It's one of those long-standing pedals I've always wanted to try but never actually pulled the trigger yet.

I really dig it! Definitely, check out the fuzz knob in the pic above. It's at around 11 o'clock, maybe a little lower. It interacts a lot with the pulse width knob, so having it lower right in the square wave shape produces rounder, more bassy fuzz, and as you increase that knob you introduce more treble, which is also why I have the tone knob maxed. Having the subs on 2 also introduces a lot of low end. I can't remember the last time I cranked the fuzz knob on it.

For me, it's perfect in the octave-fuzz-filter chain, and even as a standalone fuzz it more than holds its own. From what I understand, the circuit is essentially identical to a Wooly Mammoth except with impedance control.

Appreciate the write up! That seems to be what I’m looking for in it. Definitely a purchase in the near future for me

What are the signal paths with the LS-2?

BSW is in loop A, MS-60B in loop B, all in front of the Aguilar pedals. Mainly because if either of these are being used, the only other pedal on is the compressor.
Have thought about putting both the BSW and 60 B in a loop a thrill never be used together, then the bottom row of Aguilar pedals in a loop so they can be bypassed.
Any opinions/thoughts welcome.

The latest mini board.

T16 sounds great! Especially for all the people who maybe want a bit more thickness out of an oc2.

CMC audio proto v2, I really dig this pedal a lot, goes from low gain to pretty gnarly and works well with my active basses, it’s pretty transparent tonally which I like as well.

Shaker vibrato, I have the Hadrien feraud preset loaded… it’s lovely and wobbly.

Decided to dump the Volto battery PS I had on my Nano and go with a Ciok's Sol. Always had issues with the sound guy using the Volto. Battery power is great but can't been cable powered PS even on a small board. I bought the bracket that goes with the Sol, but just went with Velcro and it works great. No issues with floor clearance using velcro and if I want to pop in my Volto or some other battery PS, I can easily swap it out.

I like small boards with only 5 or 6 pedals. I also use : BOSS OC-2 Octaver or MXR M280 vintage bass octave, Analog Man Block Logo envelope filter, Whirlwind Rochester Series Orange Box Phaser, Gojira fx Meatboy Fuzz Sub Dark, MXR M152 Micro Flanger and MXR M169 Carbon Copy.

I've tried all the digital amp and speaker sims and nothing has convinced me yet... I'm really not attracted to the LINE6 HX STOMP... I'm really tempted to use the JAD FREER AUDIO and ORIGIN EFFECTS products but many people use them and I'm trying to offer something else. I also have old bad habits...

I'm still in love with the MXR M80 Bass D.I. +, I have been using them for 20 years, maybe more... I had several, I bought, sold then bought again... It's the sound of another era, maybe I would choose other frequencies for the EQ but I find the overdrive/distortion still current and better than those offered by Darkglass for example... It's not perfect but phantom powerable with pristine bypassed tone, durable, built like a tank, provides a wide range of tones from warm to aggressive, clean channel can be used as a boost, color switch for EQ shaping, despite being extreme, offers a parallel output for additional connectivity, noise gate, versatile EQ, distortion, and channel switching options, improves live sound significantly, eliminating need for amp, compatible and behaves well with other pedals...

On the road, I don't use production tools. Most compressors crush the signal path too much and kill dynamics. I prefer natural compression. Fingers or pick, pickup(s), cables, pedals, amp, tubes, cab(s), speakers, DI, microphone(s), PA/sound system... It's already compressing everywhere, enough for me ! I let the technicians handle that if they want, if they are equipped, if they want me to glue to the kick drum... They know the place, the room better than me. I have other basic tips and tricks for smoothing, fattening and boosting my sound, bringing out harmonics, giving it color and depth, being in the mix or cutting through the mix. However, a compressor can help other pedals or an amp work better...

The last little revolution for me is the understanding of frequencies, EQ and HPF/LPF filters. I cut below 40Hz (speaker-friendly punchy tight bass sound) and above 3 or 4kHz (noises). In some places and in some small rooms, I dig a little bit around 100Hz-200Hz, range where the boominess is. It’s kind of like if you were to cup your hands over your mouth and make a low-end hum. And a slight cut around 200Hz-300Hz, range where the muddiness is and the mix just doesn’t sound clean enough. The vocal immediately sit better in the mix. You still have to be careful because it is also in all these frequencies that the body is located...

I've considered a LS-2 on a number of occasions - to split output to two separate amps, to have separate signal paths for some pedals, like to route around Boss pedals like my 80s OC-2, RV-3 to avoid tone suck, to split board output to one amp and straight output to another amp, and another reason I can't recall right now.

To do this I first got a (powered) Radial Bigshot, then later a simple (unpowered) Bright Onion switcher like the link below. But I think the LS-2 is in the same family but something different.

* True Bypass Looper – Mini Dual AB Looper with Tuner Mute

I love the LS-2 for numerous reasons. Particularly because you can use it to balance signal to pedals after it from different output basses (or use as different levels of clean boost) even if you aren't using anything in the loops. Since getting the GLXD16 I have been using the dB setting to do that, but with that now moved off my board, I wanted an alternative option.
The bright onion looks great, love the form factor, it can't however bypass both loops to my understanding, it switches between them.
