I've currently got 2 Fender Japans (though both made for the overseas market):

The AlFeMbic - Alembicized 70s P (now PJ) from 2011 & Donald Duck Dunn P Bass (1998?)

The AlFeMbic has been my main bass for the past few months - using it to play Geddy Lee & Cliff Burton stuff - the Alembic Activator circuit lets me get a wide variety of sounds, and I'm finally coming to terms with the dead spots (5th to 7th frets on the G string). The nut is cut such that the strings are more narrowly spaced, more like a Jazz Bass? You can kind of see it here:

The oldest instrument in my collection is this MIM P bass special. Bought it new at Guitar Center in 2002, so I've had it 20 years now. I love the way this thing feels in my hands - it's got a jazz style neck, so nice and thin, and I've got some LaBella flats on it. It's no longer my #1 but it always feels like visiting an old friend when I pick it up.

MIA hi-mass bridge on a Player body? How did that work out for you? I'm curious as to how you managed to screw those in with the alignments being wonky unless you did some extra woodwork... :p

Yup - so glue-plugged (4) holes & drilled for the 2 ( (non-center) holes… have done ‘this’ on quite a few P’s & J’s
