I like the "powder blue" colored Epiphone T-birds they started making recently, kinda like this one. If I had buttloads of cash to waste and Gibson made a model in the same color I'd totally jump on it.

Sorry for the double post, but with all the Thunderbirds on here, what would be a really good amp for a Thunderbird? I'd like a really bassy sound, but cleary audible, like what you hear on Quadrophenia, but Sunn amps are no longer made, and I don't like Fenders (I have my reasons) so I won't be creating a Fenderbird too.

well i've wanted to snag an epi thunderbird for a little while now. thought about ordering one, when i saw the silverburst was coming out. so i'm holding off on ordering one untill i see the silverburst. although now i see that a lot of these places are selling them as closeout items for some reason.

Great thread! For me the best part is seeing a pic from about 2-3 years back of 69 vette's 'Birds. Anyway here's most my little flock, minus the Fenderbird and two that are on order.
The Black '77 used to belong to 69 Vette, I was very lucky to be able to buy it from him awhile back.

no question is a noobish question.
we like em for the looks, sound, and playability, just as anyone would for any brand that catches their fancy.

beauty in a guitar's case is "more" than skin deep.

many people use many brands of basses in all shapes and colors. Users will always pick a unit for the type of stuff they do, for how it fits in their arms when wearing it, and the specific tone they want.
yes you will hear "I won't play anything but a ______ bass", "I've tried a hundred different types", and you will get 100 different reasons behind it.

for me, the body shape is perfect on my Bird-bodies to rest my arm on comfortably all day and night if necessary, and I just can't do that on a Fender looking body.

Ok, I know a couple aren't 'birds, but the Triumph sort of belongs anyway, the RD is close enough, and the EB has 'bird pickups, so it's an honorary 'birdie. :D

The last pic has the hos including Ibanez, Greco, and Epiphone Japan. The rest are various Gibsons (except for the Epiphone Embassy, which is a 'bird in everything but shape alone).

How would you compare the Ibanez to the real deal or the other copies? Ive heard some people say that the ibanez tbirds werent their best copies. Me I own a mint ibanez 4001 and grabber copy and they are both on the money. In fact the grabber beats the real deal..

Also how did you manage to score that ibanez... Ive been looking for one for over 4 yrs and no luck...
