Show me your Yamaha BBs!

Here's my new (old) beasty:

The serial number on this BB1200S is LHHH125, which seems to indicate it was made on 11 January, 1985, and is unit #125, whatever that means (what does that mean actually?)

Crappy pics, I know... And the bass is in desperate need of some polishing up, the finish is scratched all to hell. It could use a truss rod adjustment and proper intonation as well. But it sounds just fine!

Congratulations! I have one just like it (a 1984), it's an awesome bass and you will love it.

the BB 1200S is an awesome bass on several levels. I can't get enough of mine.

So what particular tool is needed for adjusting the truss rod on this thing? It doesn't look like it will accept the standard allen key...

To adjust the truss rod on my BB300 I use a small socket wrench I bought from my local guitar store. I forget what size it is but your local store should have one.

Yes, sad but true! The wide nut is killing my left hand. I really need to find a BB3000S. Hard to find as they didn't reissue the slim necks. I'm open to trades as well, LOL.

Seems a bit high. Maybe closer to $700 or so.

The early ('84/'85) MIJ BB5000s are about $900. Those are amazing instruments - with tight string spacing.

I will say that THAT bass through THAT amp and THAT cabinet is truly sublime.
