It looks like I have a red BB1200S on it's way to me... Will be crossing that one off my GAS list when it's in my hands!
I, too, have the metallic orange bb414. It was my first bass, and though several times I have attempted to "upgrade," I have always found my self going back to it. Beats any other bass I have ever played, with the exception of a EBMM Stingray and Rob Sledge's custom luthier-made bass of funky ridiculousness.
Here's my Yamaha. Black '85 BB450. I've owned it for over 10yrs and it has been a dream. The pix also shows my '09 Fender Jag. Fellow TB'ers & BB owners - they all look awesome!!
Just picked up my "new beater" bass. Gonna use this one for the seedy bar scene. It's a M.I.T. black BB 1500 from a few years back.
I thought they just made a BB 1500A and was surprised to find this one. I wonder what the difference is. Anyway, the mid shift is as crazy as the older TRB models, but it's really light compared to my BB1200S. I can go from boomy to nasal to slap happy just by flicking the switch.

Here you can see my regular gigging bass, a modified black 1985 BB300 with active double EMG P-bass pickups. I never saw that config used, so I tried it. Love it! Born on Oct. 5, 1985 it was. Unfortunately the weight is killing me these days. I found this thread because I was looking for tone pot suggestions for it. I added red pinstriping to it for a color splash, and it has the serendipitous added bonus of looking red hot in camera flashes
Also shown: A pearl-white BBG4S... light and punchy, awesome bass, but had to leave it with my nephew when I moved from Greensboro NC to Maui, Hawaii in 2006. I loved everything but the color and gold hardware... waaay too Liberace for a rocker!

When I registered I saw that Roscoe Guitars has a sponsored section here. Surprise, Surprise! I used to irritate Keith Roscoe back in the 80's when his shop was on Tate Street. Famous quote from Keith: "You're not going to put fingerprints on all my guitars, are you?" lol!
In the above pic between the basses is a Yamaha SC300 fitted with EMG Selects and one of Keith's original necks from the 80's! I had to leave that guitar in the move also, and I'm kicking myself for it now. That neck was super fast!

My BB1200 which I sadly don't use as much as my 4001 Ric,,, but then,,,
It's like new, no wear, no dinks, picked it up for £200 with hard case after it had been played for a week then stored for well over 10 years.
If I take the flat wounds off it (that I love) I'd probably play it more as it's knackering to play for a full gig compared to the Ric

My Girlfriend and I have a mixmatched set !!!
MY 86 BB300 and her 97 BBN4II.
BB300 has a Gotoh bridge -painted tuning keys and Med Chromes.
BBN4II -has black painted stock hardware.- Body used to be gloss balck, now has 9 coats of tounge oil.- Pots are now V.B.T. -Nickel round strings.
She rarely plays bass over guitar so I make out!!!!

Sometimes I make out with her, but ushually I stay in the 1st psoition. It is a nice playing and sounding bass.
I also must say that BBs look great in pairs.
As of this morning, my new BB1200S is on a FedEx truck for local delivery... I will be sure to take pics when it's in my possession!

Thanks! I'm not quite sure of when they made them. From what I've found, there was a limited run of only 40 of these basses, handmade in Japan. They were limited to the Japanese market and some popped up in Europe. To find any info outside of info on vintage BB3000's, I had to dig through and translate some of Yammy's Japanese web pages and never found a clear answer to that.That's lovely! When were those re-issued?

The serial number on this BB1200S is LHHH125, which seems to indicate it was made on 11 January, 1985, and is unit #125, whatever that means (what does that mean actually?)
Crappy pics, I know... And the bass is in desperate need of some polishing up, the finish is scratched all to hell. It could use a truss rod adjustment and proper intonation as well. But it sounds just fine!
