bass nook update. small but mighty. upright stares down the twins from the other side of the room lol.
Today with the house to myself and no gig, this is my killer setup.
Here is the corner of our living room we call “the music room.”
Serves as a family play area, and we do a “family band.” My wife plays the acoustic bass, I play guitar and my 3 year old is a multi-instrumentalist/ dancer
Far left is my main axe, ready to go. The white cabinet hides my gig amp, backup bass, gig bags and all my accessories. Headphone amp comes out at night for wood shed time.
Someday we will have a dedicated music room. Drum-set, full 9 yards. Amps set up and ready to practice. But for our family and current house, this is a pretty sweet setup.

It's it nice having a place you can dedicate to music? At our old house my basses sat on a 7-guitar stand in the corner of our office. I had the amps in the living room next to the TV with a single guitar stand for the bass I was playing at the moment. It wasn't ideal. As for those stencils, my daughter found those for me, it's been about 4 years since I painted the room and put those up so I don't remember exactly where. Look for "wall art stencils", there's lots of places that have them. Sorry no exact details. I do know they were pretty inexpensive and I've been happy they stayed up so well.
Liking your room, nice to be a bright and open space like that. I have an egress window that we put in when we made it a bedroom but not as much light in that way. And especially not this time of year. All those frames are important personal things, pictures of family, my grandpa, old band mates, newspaper articles from past bands, signed guitar from Blackberry Smoke, and artwork from each of my kids. It's just great to have a space to make your own.
Those are the bass, guitar, drums and vocals icons from the video game, Rock Band.
I didn't know that, never paid any attention to video games. I just know she had some letters on her wall about dance and she suggested a music theme set for my room when I was painting the red and orange. It was originally light blue.
When she showed them to me I said I liked them and she got them for me.
Moved my stuff into another room of the house to clear up a room for my first child on the way. Happy with how it came out. Mostly just use the pedalboard signal, I’ll turn on the amp when I have the place to myself. Might look into one of those Rolls PM50s monitors to get rid of the mixer on the floor.
Everything is packed away for a repaint at the moment. I'm hoping to tidy it up a bit and have a neat, decluttered look when it's done...
I am no longer able to go deep enough in my room to get to any cases, to move them to a different location. I put a few basses in cases, and I can no longer get to them to play them. Help!
The room available to me serves a dual purpose as a music room & home theatre. I'm trying to squeeze so much out of a small space.

What an AMAZING TB thread with tons of great room examples.
I live in a tiny. 3 story walk up, 700sq ft apartment in Brooklyn NY. Needless to say, I can't even fit a few cases in my apartment much less all my gear, so I recently leased some industrial space about 1 mile from my apartment building to house all my gear and turned the space into a recording / jam room. I started this project back in December of 2019 and it's pretty much almost done. Aside from the wood floors, it was a complete demo and reconstruct job. I've always wanted to do something like this.
The walls and ceiling were taken down to the studs and then soundproofed with multiple layers of soundboard and insulation behind the final sheetrock layer. I also had the drop ceiling removed and put in a soundproofed ceiling as well and recessed lighting. One of my favorite parts of the aesthetics of the room is the view of the bridge right in front of my recording desk ... and at night it lights up and changes colors
... It's the small things.I'll save you all from the before and after shots
There are still about 20 basses not shown that have to be brought over and I have a bunch of gear set up in my band's rehearsal space around the corner ... I'll add a pic of that here too at the bottom.
The pics below only show the left side of the room, the guitar side, I will post the cabinets, heads and effects side when the room is completed.
