I have a few. A three pickup Warmoth jazz, and a Fender parts fretless jazz, a Blacktop jazz, and a Squier parts P. The most interesting one is the Warmoth.

Here's some of mine. The objective- to spend as little money as possible. NONE of these basses exceeded 400 bucks in total parts. All the EMG's I bought here on TB. The G&L Tribute necks were purchased directly from G&L, when they were $39.00! The black P-J is a Squier Affinity I got (complete bass) for 75 bucks on Craigslist. It has second hand Schaller BM gears, and a RARE lefty gold anodized guard! I made the neck from billets I had in my shop for years. It's a pretty stout piece of flamed maple, with a 22 fret rosewood board, double acting rod with headstock adjustment, and a huge 1-7/8" nut width. The neck is the secret of any bass' sound. That bass just kills. The next, is a forty dollar score unfinished Ash 'T' bass with a modded body, and G&L neck. These necks do NOT just bolt up to a Fender pocket. To make it work, both the neck heel and neck pocket needed to be cut. I routed the body for the second pickup, and made the totally unique pickguard from scratch, after fitting a black posterboard one and tracing it onto the plastic blank. It has one Fender Japan pickup, and one Squier. The bass sounds great. It's got a 10 footer Krylon paint job that is truly awful - a strap melted the finish on the back. I'm too lazy to re-do it. The last one, is another 40-50 dollar formerly sunburst Squier body, now sporting Krylon's version of Daphne Blue. It has a G&L Rosewood neck, body and neck- and surplus pickguard all modified to fit. EMG pickups, Volume/ pan/ treble and bass stack. Even with ALL gold hardware, including Schaller tuers and Omega bridge, I have about $375.00 in it.
I wanted to see, with my nearly half Century of Luthiery experience, if I could build a few 'budget' basses that played as well as some serious boutique instruments. For the most part, the results were satisfying.

Ok so now you've done it. I just happen to have a Squier Tele body, a Jazz neck with an unbound RW fretboard with pearl blocks and an untouched paddle headstock, and a couple of MM pickups hanging around. This can't possibly end well.

Nothing fancy. I wanted a PJ with a sorta goth vibe. So I cobbled this together. Squier PJ body and neck, Gotoh Cosmo finish hardware, Wilde pickups, CTS pots, Switchcraft jack. And just for fun and mostly for the trophy photo, a set of blue DR neons.

Bargain parts builds. Started out as a pair of Squier Vintage Modified basses, bought at a steep discount. Luthier removed necks, electronics and hardware, sold all. Got MightyMite Precision necks, Gotoh bridges, Schaller tuners, Duncan SPB-1 and SJB-1b pickups, bodies routed for full size CTS 250k pots, Orange drop vintage spec capacitors, Switchcraft jacks, roller string guides and StrapLoks.

Seventy-three Fender P-bass neck on a parts Alder body with Lollars. ... I dig old Fender necks the rest I swap out.

Warmoth, Sklar routed (dual reversed P's, spaced), EMG's, black sparkle body.
Fender MIM P neck (original tuners). Triple string retainer. Hipshot B bridge.

Put this together for a semi-old school P with flats (T.I. Jazz Flats BTW).
Not usually my thing, but I do prefer a reversed P and "Holy Cow" I must have gotten lucky
with this Fender (usually notoriously inconsistent) neck. The strings are practically laying on
the fretboard with no buzzing to speak of. Love this bass.

This one started out as a '94 MIM P-Bass.

I stripped and refinished the body with the same polyurethane I used on my wood floors.

ESP bridge, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound P-Bass, Fender "F" neck plate, black metal knobs and brown shell pickguard are replacements from other projects. The neck is a new Fender MIM replacement. Strung up with Elixirs.

I keep going back and forth between routing it for a bridge J pickup or not.

Speaking of, once I have the funds, I’m thinking about ordering this body that I’ve been eyeing. Thoughts? It’s like $700 but it’s something that really speaks to me. Thinking of a 70s Pau Ferro jazz neck

I have three, this is my latest. Warmoth body, pickguard and neck. Can't see it but AAA flamed maple. Hipshot tuners and bridge. Fender v-mod pups.

I wanted this color combo, but it wasn't an option, so I bought two basses and switched out the parts. The body is a lot whiter than this pic. It's in my profile picture.

I was 'gonna sell the leftover parts bass, but my wife said it was too pretty and I should just keep it.
