YAY!!! its nice to see some other young TB'ers here. (osama_spears and bassist 31588) I'm 16. Man i wish i had a pic... i really need a good one of my rig... But I always chuckle when i see the prices that people payed for there stuff... i got an amazing deal. for some reason i can just do that. i bought a '94 Ampeg SVT III Pro for a measly $350. How often do you find one for that price??? Next is i scored a Hartke 4x10XL for $200!!! i was never really amazed by the hartke stuff, but i only tried out the Transporters. The XL's blow them away. I seriously consider getting a 4x10 instead of a 2x10 / 1x15. all you need is a 4x10. If its a good one, thats all you should need. i play a bunch of hardcore ****... and i compete with my guitarists 100 watt marshall half stack... my amp is on about 5 or 6... and it is just amazing. The ampeg and the hartke go extremely well together. Does anyone else on TB have a setup similar to this??? But i love when i see people who don't have alot of money to spend buy new things. if i bought my rig new it would have costed about $1500 dollars... hmm thats about 1,000 more dollars then i spent... I TELL YOU BUY USED THINGS!!!!

Sadly, I don't have a very good picture of my rig, ATM.

My rig may not stay with me too long. I think it's on the verge of getting replaced by a BAM 210 combo for 3 reasons. Better sound (IMO), more versatility and more portable. My 410TXF weighs 95lbs alone and my firebass weighs 50lbs.

Good setup but doesn't quite do it for me, then again, I have very odd taste in sound. I like bright without being too attacky with a good high mid nasal sound to it, that's not too overbearing.

Seemingly, I've been able to do this with my Sterling and a BAM being strung with Prisms.

Anyway, enough useless comments.

Dont laugh, its no 8x10 with a 1000w head, just my 65w laney, does me fine in teh house, but i absoutley must get a job so i can buy my carvin r600 and a 4x10, then i wont be so shy about posting pics of my setup

Geez, dont be afraid and shy about posting combo amps or entry level basses. I've heard some pretty nasty musicians play on crap, and remember, if you're using a combo amp, you can always run a line out into a PA system if there is one.

Jaco played $90 piece of **** basses, and honestly, his signature model is in better condition than his, good action, etc... Look at some pictures, a lot of times he wasnt playing a bass with the lowest of action. Charlie Parker played on a plastic sax! I'm not saying you guys with lower quality gear are chemically dependent like these cats were, but some people just cant afford gear. And I can guarantee you half of the people here who are lugging around a 410 and a 15 or 2 8x10s can probably get their gig done with a single 410 or 8x10. Seriously... If you have to bring 2 8x10s to a show, there should have to be a PA there, and if there is, I'd honestly say, you dont need 2 of those 810s! If there isnt a PA and your playing a BIG PLACE, fine...

I'm just saying, chill... we dont think any lower of you if you dont own $7,000 or more worth of gear!;)

Yeah,I agree...I personally think combo's amps are the shiznit for around-the-house practice and stuff.

Atleast you have an amp:)

I think I got one up on ya there bud (and I'm 17 by the way):
Acoustic B320 Head: $200
Peavey 4x12 loaded with JBLs: $50
Wireless: $20
Sunn 2x15, with two sets of speakers (Sunns and JBLs) $150
Traynor YBA-3: $75, retubed just before I got it.

Just under $500 for a complete stereo setup with wireless...:D.

I play (at least around my house) a standard fender p-bass (agave blue) and an SWR LA-12 combo. It's not big or particularly powerful, but it's enough to play house parties (both the guitar players in my band play 30 watts, one's a tube amp that's loud as ****, though). One of the guitar player's dads has an old ass sun 100 watt 15 that I use at practice... it's just too big and heavy to carry (waist high, infinity pounds).

They are certainly great practice amps! I have a little B20 downstairs. It can be a bit bright (but can't all small speakers) but it has a great frequency range.


I wouldn't be ashamed of a combo, in fact, I'm trying to sell my rig to get a BAM 210. :)

I have the 120 watt version of that amp, the 2x12 combo with one speaker facing down. It handled a low B in my room and got the situations that I did 'done' and even worked 'ok' for upright, but I wouldn't reccomend it for gigs with a Low B. I don't see how your b30 handled one if my b120 barely did:D

its not a bad amp though, I just wanted something that could handle a low B 'better' and handle upright without having the volume past halfway, and when the volume gets past halfway on these amps it ****s the bed on the lower notes. My speakers were worn out though for expecting too much out of it when I was beginning, I would crank all the knobs and wondered why it sounded like ass...
