Great looking rig...While I generally don't care for the appearance of Genz Benz Cabinets (I guess I went through my white baffle phase in the '70s), I think your rig looks KILLER!!! Very lethal!!!:D

Do you use a dual output bass or just link the amps (or have one as a spare)?

I tried the new Mesa 6x10 and Powerhouse 1000 (4x10 plus 1x15) cabinets and didn't really like them. I think Mesa's older cabs were much better. The Bergy can eat both of those cabs for lunch, seriously!

I tend to agree about the old Mesa cabs being superior. That Diesel 4x10 will still hold its own against two VL-210's, until you start pushing it. When I bought it, I also played through a Diesel 2x15, and let me tell you, that cab blew me away! Very much a full range cab, with lots of punch, and no sonic "holes." But it was ludicrously big and heavey, so I went with the 4x10, which I at least CAN pick up on my own (even though it's getting less and less enjoyable to lug up and down steps by myself!).

I have not yet been able to audition any Bergantino cabs, but I would love to check them out, especially the 322.

Tom.

Hey Tom,
Yea, I remember playing through a brand new Mesa 2x15 cabinet (from about 1990) and that thing was awesome, but it was very heavy. I tried it out with a new Bass 400 Plus head, and man that thing would bring down walls! I mean, I think it was the most powerful bass sound I have ever heard. I was told that Mesa has recently switched their speaker producer to a new company, and that may be the reason for the different sound of their new cabs. As far as the Bergy's go, I had bought a new HT322, but sent it back, as it just wasn't the sound I like. It really is an awesome cab if you are a funk guy who cuts your mids, but if you play fingerstyle rock and want attack and enough mid to cut through loud guitars, then the NV610 is the way to go!

Peace

How hard is that NV 610 to lug around?

Tom.

Well, ya can't get around the fact that it's a 6x10. :) But really, the NV610 is lighter and less bulky than the SWR Goliath Senior 6x10. The NV610 might be the most portable 6x10 out there: at ~95 pounds, it's lighter than some 4x10 cabs.

As mentioned, the NV610 has nice chunky mids (and no tweeter). I'd be gigging with mine more often, but I don't have a cover for it and it's been raining a lot 'round here.

Ken is right on with his assement of the NV610, and YES I purchased mine with a cover.
A prudent man you are, I see!

this is a picture of a sad 17 year olds rig. it's middle of the road. better than some wore than a lot. Ampeg B100R, yamaha BB605 and RBX 800 w/ a DI on top.
Heck, at that age, I had a Peavey Backstage 50 (which is a guitar amp, BTW), and a Lotus bass (which has actually been restored to pretty kick ass condition by Phil Maneri)! Very nice "starter" rig!

Tom.
