Well here's my Ashdown, and probably the first AL series photos in this thread too! Just got my baby yesterday... just opened it for a couple of minutes now to see the lights on and take a couple of photos too.:hyper:
Cant hear it yet though, untill my Acme "Low B-2" II will arrive next week.:crying:

When I 'll have my full mini-rig-of-doom though be sure to check out my future photos and reviews too. ;)
I might say that if it sounds like it looks like, oh man, I m gonna be a real happy man!!! I saw photos on the net and stuff, NOTHING compares to the real thing! I must admit that this is the most beautiful amp head I ve seen since date. (Yep, GAS relief hehe)...

p.s. Graphic EQ is in random settings just for the "photo shooting". :p

How do the MAG 600 and ABM 500 compare?
I've gone from a SWR 350 to Yorkville xs800 to a Peavey Classic All tube 400 ALL IN THE LAST TWO YEARS..
All these have tube preamps.
I'll be playing a Spector Rebop 4 through it. I like the SWR sound but is a bit too hi-fi, will the Ashdowns be a little more vintage sounding?
Good deals can be had on the MAG 600 right now.

How do the MAG 600 and ABM 500 compare?

The ABM500 has a tube preamp, the MAG600 is solid state.
The ABM500 has a valve drive control, the MAG600 obviously has not.
The ABM500 has 7-band EQ, the MAG600 has 5-band.
The ABM500 has a pre/post switch for the DI output, the MAG600 has only post EQ DI output.

These are the main differences, technically speaking, that come in mind to me.

Being the former owner of a MAG300, I can witness it is a very good amp as long as you don't need any kind of "valve-like" tone. The tone on the MAG is full and thick, though.

I also experienced some failure with the MAG (scratch noise from the preamp after 2 years of use).

Hope this helps,
Jay
