Just thought I'd chime in as an owner of 2 wizzy's and an omni 15. I bothered (because of it's size)to take my om15 to my house (church)gig last week instead of my wizzy/s or my Carvin pb200-15 combo. I amped it w/ my Yamaha bbt500h. The guitarist said he could hear the wizzy's better. I could 'feel' the om15 but I adjusted the eq for better audible feedback. I like the sound of the om15 better just because it forces it's prescence with the lower end rumble. Again, it's an 8 ohm cab compared to to 4 ohm cabs (2ohm load) so I had the volume up more but the wizzy's at more volume just sound louder as opposed to feeling louder.
I'll be using this set up (bbt500h/ om15) for a while in the same setting so I'll get used to what eq works best.
On a side note. Some time back, a squeal took out the tweeter so instead of replacing it, I bypassed the crossover so the highs would go to the midrange driver. Much better now cause no more finger noise or tipical tweeter static. Me like it.

I definately hear in the Wizzy sample a honk that would be why it seem louder in a mix. But the Omni15 seems to have a better blend of all expected freq. across the board.
In my novice opinion, an Omni12 with a non tweeter crossover setup (as Bill mentioned) ,just using the woofer and mid driver in full range so to speak, may have the capability to sound more like a Wizzy or at least get some honking mids if cutting through in that way was needed. Right now that idea tops my list for single cab BFD setups. Now if this New England weather would just warm up I could get started !!

Do you have any experience with the B&C coaxials? I have heard some of there speakers in the AER stuff, and it is very very good; their 8" wizzer cone design is amazing for bass, at least as AER has designed the system (4x8's in a very small box with a separate 60 watt amp for each speaker). Might be interesting to work on a single 12 box for a coax - one of them goes from 50-20,000 hz.

Hey Bill, is this what the Omni 10 will do, or am I trying to make it do something that its not intended to do? I am aiming for cheap...

Omni15 drived by a Crown XTi 1000, with active filtering on 15" and 8". A true high end cab, the best I own :hyper:

A friend of mine uses that exact amp for keyboards. He's under the impression it's loaded with Beymas? Can anyone confim?

Digging through my basement this week I happened upon a pair of unopened boxes with a brand new (discontinued) JBL 2225H in each. After seeing this thread I'm scratching my head and wondering if these are "Omni 15 worthy"... or if I should leave the boxes unopened and forget about them for another 10 years. Opinions? Would the size of cabinet these need be transportable? TIA.

2225s would work fine in an O15, though they weigh over twice what a Kappalite 3015LF does. O15 measures 30Hx27Wx17D, but if you're going to get out of a 15 what it's capable of that's how big the box must be. OTOH, you'll only need one. Sell the other to pay for the rest of the parts.

Thanks kindly, Bill! That size would be perfect and weight is no problem. Two O15s would be one too many? Or perhaps there's another model that is better-suited for the second cabinet?

Ive been toying with the idea to build a cab for awhile...these have definatly caught my eye. One question though, from the pictures i have looked at it seems as if there is no access to the woofer and speaker components once the cab is put together-what if the speaker goes? do you have to like rip the cap apart?

I'm in the process of building the Omnitop 2x15 right now. I'm using P.Audio C15-300B drivers and a compression horn from my BRX212 as well as the crossover. I'm just curious if it will be louder than my Carvin 8x10 at 500watts for either cab. Either way one of them is going to be a backup cabinet.

You cab looks very professionally made. Nice Status too (I have a S2000). I bought the O15 plans ages ago, but have no facilities to build myself, and try as I might, my cardboard mockup of one wouldn't fit easily into my car. I have all the drivers for one though, so if I can convince my mate to make one cheaply enough, might make a good rehearsal speaker.

So this week I commissioned a friend to build an O10 and a T39. I can use them seperately or together for more flexibility. And they fit in the back seat of the car.

They'll probably be fairly similar in volume, but I think you'll find the omni to have the cleaner sound of the two. I gave mine a full volume test outdoors last weekend and found it to be quite impressive. I put eminence kappalites in mine.
