for the Casady I have both Come Together and Day Tripper available in a pre and post DS install version. all of the mp3's were recorded without effects or EQ, and all to the same midi accompaniment. you really get a good idea of the drastic difference between the two pickups in an identical bass and setting.

This bass is a great player, and now one of my favorite gigging instruments. ALL that remains is to plug the original jack hole and bring the nut down a bit. This bass may also set a Darkstar record for having a bass actually cost me 1/3 of the price of the pickups that I put in the bass. You can see more details on the process and results here:

finally had time to work on this one today ... here's what it looks like with everything all together

the chambered body really allows this fretless to sing acoustically - definitely no need for a practice amp when playing this one late at night after the family has all gone to bed

now I just need to order up a set of bridge pins ...

Hi:

I have the Noll two band, and yes, great preamp,
I especially like the ability to go full passive with
a balance control (versus two separate volumes)
so I can do some Jeff Beck/Roy Buchanan volume
swells with my little pinky (and hit a triple stop
octave/fifth/octave and shake the place)

At low volumes, the preamp really lets the bass
sound full, and at high volumes, well, now we're
talking about high volumes and the Dark Stars
are uncloaked.

Too bad the dollar is crashing against the Euro,
otherwise I'd get rid of my Aguilar preamps in my
other basses and go all Noll
