Show your Dark Starred Basses

Yep, Butch @ Bayou Cables has 'em. I got mine when I ordered my wiring harness from him for my DS'd T-45

just added one to my 1978 Guild B-301. i have 2 more darkstars on the way for the guild, should be in my hands by the end of this week. i will post pics once all 3 are in. also has a custom phonelic pickguard. all work courtesy of Petillo Guitars.


is there any other fretless darkstar basses?? i don't think i saw any in the previous replies....

So that is the bass my darkstars will be going into!

Wow, that Guild looks great, congrats! I haven't seen any other fretless DS'd basses here, but recently a stunning, black fretless Lakland Decade was up for sale on Ebay.

fretless Darkstar ... did somebody say fretless Darkstar???

this custom Darkstar + piezo fretless is ever so s-l-o-w-l-y coming along. delays have been rooted in the piezo portion of the deal, but developments just this evening may have us on track to a not too distant completion

we had been attempting to mate a D-TAR Timberline with the Darkstar via a D-TAR Eclipse buffering pre-amp, but it was just turning into a nightmare trying to get the schematic working and the electronics disassembled so I could customize the connections. as of this evening the new plan is to utilize a set of RMC Bass Excellence acoustic bridge piezos with their Hybrid Pro B pre-amp so I can buffer the piezo and Darkstar together with independent volume and tone controls. if all goes well, this will have a stacked V/V + DS tone + piezo tone knob configuration with a side mounted jack

I was doing some math and found that an Artcore AGB 200 with a DS dropped in would be 850 (if they charged 150 for labor on the install)...I might be able to post in this thread someday...

Hey i got a defretted Ibanez Artcore AGB140 with epoxy finish on the fingerboard.
I might just put a DS in it if i could hear some sound samples from a hollowbody fretless with a DS in it. (mid position)

I had them up on the Pit ... but when everything got wiped a few months back I lost the thread (and I don't remember who hosted them for me )

right now I only have the soundclips from the Casady hollowbody bass I modded, and for the '51P influenced solidbody I built ground up. each mp3 runs between 4-5Meg ... if you want one, e-mail (not a PM) me with your request preference

I think the Casady would sound substantively the same, with the ohm selector wide open.
